Festival Announcements

    "Okay, everyone!" Monika announces in her usual cherry voice. It sounded the same every time. Like someone had a record, and they played it every single time Monika had an announcement.

    "Does everyone have their poems with them?" she asks, glancing at Sayori and I. Sayori grins and holds up hers, as I pulled mine from my pocket and held it up too.

—Timeskip—

After everyone finished sharing their poems, Monika had another announcement.

"So as you all know, in January it's the festival." She takes a deep breath. "This is important, because we need more members in our club. We need to show everyone what literature is all about. So we're going to read our poems in front of everyone. Sayori and I have already discussed this, and we decided that we could make the phamplets, Natsuki could probably bake cupcakes, and Yuri could do decorations. Is this okay with everyone?"

"...I'd rather not read poems in front of everybody, but I uh- I can do decorations!" Yuri says, embarrassed. "Oh Yuri, it'll be fine. Pretend they're not there."

"Um... what about Jack?" Natsuki asks, glancing at me nervously. "Oh, that's right! Jack! He can pick who to help. So... there's me, Natsuki, and... Yuri," Monika explains.

"Um... didn't you say Sayori was helping you?" you ask her.

"Yes- but we could always use more help."

"I'll uh, go with Natsuki then."

"Yessss!" Natsuki says out loud, but then quickly covers her mouth. You glance over at her and smirk, you definitely caught that.

Before she could respond, Monika started blabbing again. "Also, on the day before Christmas Eve, I'm going to have a Christmas party at my house. You guys should come, it would be fun!"

"Oh, I'll definitely come!" Sayori says.

That evening while you were walking Sayori home, she seemed more quiet than usual.

"Hey Sayori, what's wrong?"

She looked up at you, surprised. "Oh, nothing! I was just spacing off, sorry!"

"Alright..."

You stare at the ground and keep trudging your feet on the sidewalk. You and Sayori lived in the nicer parts of your town. The grass was neatly cut, the roads were paved almost perfectly.

Suddenly, Sayori says out of nowhere...

"If you had the choice to walk home with Natsuki, would you walk home with her or with me?"

It's like a slap in the face. "Well, you, obviously. We're friends. But why are you asking me about scenarios that would never happen?..."

"Well, I was just wondering..."

"Sayori."

"Okay, sorry! But you've just been hanging out with her so much.."

Before you get into any major fight with her, you reach your house. With a single wave, you open the door and disappear into your dwelling. She waves bye too.
