Clubs. Clubs.Sayori wanted you to join a club. Other than the anime club, you really can't think of anything you'd enjoy.
Suddenly, Sayori peeks her head into the classroom door, and you snap out of your thoughts. "Hiii Jack!" Sayori greets, with her usual cheerful voice. "Uh, hey.." you respond, as your body relaxes. "Before we try out the other clubs... do you think you could stop at my club for a second?" she asks, hope glimmering in her eyes.
You really wanted to say no to that.
"Uh, why...?" you ask her, thinking about the anime club. Sure, there'd be no girls in it, but you'd fit in better in the anime club than some... literature club. Sayori pouts at you. "Please? Natsuki made cupcakes!" Okay, this made it difficult.
"Uhh... I guess I could stop by for a little bit.."
Her face lights up. "Oh!! Okay, follow me!"
As you both walk together in the hallway, you can't help but look around your school. Flyers and banners were already made for the festival coming up this Friday. Sayori arrives at a classroom, and you can hear light chit chat coming from inside. She opens the door, completely ecstatic to have a new member. Probably. As you walk inside, the club members- a surprisingly short number of four, including Sayori- circle around to greet you.
A tall, purple... haired female talks to you first. "Hello, and welcome to the Literature Club!"
A different girl, (with pink hair??) who is rather short and skinny, looks up at you. "Wow, Sayori, you brought a boy? Way to kill the atmosphere!!" she complains.
"Natsuki... calm down... we want to make our new club members feel welcome," the first girl said calmly. She seemed mature and quiet. So the pink-haired girl was Natsuki, huh?
Sayori indroduces everyone, and then Natsuki excuses herself to go get the cupcakes she made. The tall purple-themed girl- Yuri- went to make tea, which left you with Sayori and Monika.
"And this is Monika, the club president!" Sayori grins. "Oh, we already know each other Sayori..."
You knew Monika from class last year. She was smart, beautiful, athletic. AKA, out of your league. She says it's nice to see you again, and you say the same, which isn't a very entertaining interaction.
After that's over, Natsuki proudly walks over with her tray of cupcakes, grinning. "Ta-daaaaa!" she says, while taking the lid off. They all look like cute, fluffy, white kittens.
Sayori was the first to grab a cupcake, and you weren't surprised. You took one second, and then Monika. Yuri was still gone with the tea.
You look at the cupcake for a bit. It's cute. You hear Sayori commenting on how delicious it is, but the only thing you really notice is that Natsuki was staring at you. Is she waiting for you to take a bite? You unwrap one of the sides and give it a taste. "This is good, Natsuki. Thanks."
"Don't thank me! It's not like I made them for you or anything...!"
"Didn't you technically?"
"Okay, but... I didn't know who it would be! She said just a new club member!"
Wait... what did Sayori tell her?
"Uhm... I'm not actually in this club yet.." you mumble. Now you remember Yuri calling you a club member at the door. They don't think you're joining, do they?
All of the girls in the club suddenly turn to you, including Yuri, who was strangely on the other side of the room and not within hearing distance.
"What..?" Monika says.
"Yeah, I just kinda.. came here with Sayori to check it out, and I never really said I was going to join. Sorry guys, but I have other clubs to look at-"
They keep staring. Most of them look disappointed, except for Monika, strangely enough.
"Don't tell me you just came for the cupcakes.." Natsuki mumbled irritably, crossing her arms. "No- Sayori just seemed really happy here, and I told you, I came here to check it out-"
You glance at all of the club members again. Honestly, you can't make a clear-headed decision when it's like this...!
"Okay. I'll join the club."
Their faces, one by one, slowly light up. Sayori grins and tackle-hugs you. By some miracle, you don't fall down and flip the table. "Woah, chill."
She just hugs you tighter. You, once again, glance at all of the other girls awkwardly. You don't want them to think you're actually dating Sayori...!... She lets go after a few seconds.
"Okay, everyone! I have decided on a new club activity," Monika announces randomly, standing up from her seat. "To make us all feel more comfortable around each other, we're going to be writing poems and sharing them." Yuri's face drops.
"Um, there is no way I could do that, Monika! That would be really embarrassing.." Natsuki objects. Yuri chimes in too. "I agree with her wholeheartedly."
"But this could be a good opportunity for us to improve our skills and get advice from each other," Monika states, frowning a bit. "Yeah, I agree with Monika! This is a literature club, after all! Plus, after a while, Natsuki and Yuri, you'll be so used to it that it won't be embarrassing anymore!"
They both stare at Sayori with faces of disbelief. "Oh, come on... we won't judge! You both know everyone here, other than Jack, but he's not judgmental or anything, I promise!" she tries to persuade them.
"Fine.." Natsuki grumbles, still not looking completely convinced. Yuri ignores them and brings the tea over to the table Nat and I are sitting at. "Sharing poems, huh..." she says, taking a seat.
Natsuki rolls her eyes and grabs a cupcake, only looking at it for a split second before taking a huge bite out of it.
