After seventh hour, it was finally time to go to the club. You slung your bag over your shoulder and started your wonderful (boring) journey to the club room.
Upon arrival, Natsuki was already waiting for you at the door. "Hey so- I'm sorry for what those girls said. I'm trying to tell them that we ARE NOT dating! But they just won't listen! So. Ignore them. Okay?"
You give her a look that says "Haha, yeah, I know dude, chill," and then nod at her. Monika tells everyone to sit down now that everyone is here, and starts some announcement.
"So, in order to practice for the festival, we are going to be sharing our poems out loud!" she said, grinning. "Since I'm the leader, I'll go first." You look over your shoulder, and as expected, you see both Natsuki and Yuri with worried faces. As soon as you looked back over at Monika, she began.
To be honest, you didn't really listen to Monika's speech. It sounded dull and boring. What you were REALLY focused on, was seeing Natsuki to prepare for the club. What was going to happen? Should you pop THE (the) question this weekend? So much to think about.
After a few minutes of Monika droning on and on, she asks who wanted to go next. "I'll go!" Sayori cheers, skipping to the podium. Now, Sayori's, you were willing to listen to.
Her's was called "My Meadow." Obviously, you didn't know what it was about since your brain couldn't really function now. But her voice sounded sweet, or... bittersweet? Melancholy? Heck, you can't remember the word. Monika speaks up again after she's done. "Alright, so who wants to go now?"
You had a feeling that it was obviously your turn. "Heh, alright, I'll-"
"No, I'll go," Yuri said, in a fierce tone. You look behind your shoulder (again) in shock. "Woo, let's go Yuri!" Sayori cheered on.
Yuri stepped behind the podium, taking a deep breath. At first, her voice was shaky, nervous. Timid. But after some time it eventually turned fierce, like the voice she'd used before starting. You wonder what prompted her to go before you... it was unexpected, really. But regardless, her poem was great, and so was her performance.
After Yuri, Monika looked at you and Natsuki expectedly. "Which one of you guys..."
"You might as well just make Jack go first to lower everyone's expectations first..." Natsuki speaks up.
"Alright then." You step up to the podium, not as nervous as Yuri or Natsuki would probably be, but still scared enough to stutter in places. Nonetheless, they still clapped for you, as they did for everyone else.
Now it was Natsuki's turn.
"Alright, fine..." she huffed, clutching her paper in her hand. You could already see her cutesy-handwriting printed on it.
"This poem... will be about love.."
