"So, Wylde, you heard of the huge rave that the Fulton bros are throwing tonight? "
*

It had all started with a simple question.
A simple question with a simple subtle meaning to it... Or so it would seem.

*
"No.... I don't talk to the Fultons... "
*
Silence ensued. By the laws of the universe when it came to conversation, that should have been the end of it... If the boy who was once known as Derick Sullivan had just taken the nonverbal cue of The girl's Icy tone and moved right along. Things... Possibly would have been very different.
Instead, the boy persisted, offering the girl an easy smile and scooting his chair just a little closer to where he was practically leaning over onto her.

*
"There will be a bonfire there. Plus Anderson and Slim Tim managed to raid their parent's entire liquor stashes.... Free food. Free booze. It's gonna be great. "
*
He tried, peering down onto the girls sketchpad that she would so diligently use.
The picture that he managed to get a glimpse of before she noticed his stare and abruptly covered it with a vinyl folder, was an elaborate drawing of what looked to be a Giant sun, but made entirely out of tribal designs and flames in the background.
He noted that it would have made a killer tattoo... But forced his mind to focus on the task at hand.

*
"Come on, Wylde... Everyone is invited. Why not go? You haven't shown up to a class shindig since fall of freshman year-
*
*
"Yeah, and remember what happened then?"
*
Ah and there it was...
High schoolers were notably cruel to their peers. It was adolescent nature. And if they couldn't best you in a primal physical altercation, they'd destroy you in a way that you couldn't recover from. Your reputation. Such an unfortunate fate was that of This girls...
The rumors had spread like an epidemic and within only a day of the event actually happening, everyone in Stone wood Highschool had heard.
You wouldn't think such a thing would even matter at all and normally it wouldn't... If it was just the girl and another one of her peers... But because an adult, one that by any means shouldn't have even been present was involved.... Things got complicated...

The Whore... That's what they saw her as. Homewrecker. Slut.
Such ugly terms and rumors surrounded her like a miasma and no matter what other Faux pas or scandal happened afterwards, none of them ever seemed to overshadow hers.

*
"Oh...."
*
Derick was silent for a moment, his adolescent brain scrabbling to muster a counter for her quip. He sighed and raked a hand through his sandy blonde hair.

*
"Uh look... You... Do know that... What happened at Jason's bonfire back then... None of us really believed his dad, you know?...about the whole... You coming onto him, thing?... It was all just supposed to be... It was just a-"
*
The look that the girl gave him made the words dry up in his throat.
Never before had Derick, in his brief 18 years of living seen such a baleful, poisonous look.
The girl had brown eyes with thick full lashes that could have easily reminded one of a baby deer but the look that she was giving him now radiated such anger and pain and... For lack of better words, hatred, that it made the warm chocolate hue darken to being almost black... It was all Derick could do not to shiver, say "fuck it!" and leave right then. But he refrained. He NEEDED to convince her to go. Giving up was not an option.

*
"Look... I'm sorry about what happened back then... But I can't change that...  But... "
*
He paused, grabbed a piece of Notebook paper from his school bag, and scrawled an address, time and phone number down in messy blocky letters, sliding it onto her desk.
When he retracted his hand, his thumb just barely swept over the knuckles of hers.
