Remy
One week. It's been one week since Nat and my worlds collided. I've driven her to school a total of four times. It may not seem like a long time, but it was long enough to change me. I love my sleep. I stay up late and sleep in as long as I can. That all changed when I started taking her to school. I started to look forward to mornings, excited to pick her up. It came to the point I would wake up before my alarm. A smile plastered itself to my lips every time I pulled up to her house. I found myself doing what I could to make her smile. She deserved to be happy. She didn't deserve what Tanner did to her.
Sunday rolled around and the moment I opened my eyes I was filled with nerves. I tried to distract myself. Football practice helped, but it was only for three hours. After that, I went home and took a long shower.
Two hours until dinner. I stood in front of my closet, half of my clothes laid on the floor around my feet. Two hours and I was still wearing nothing but a towel. Being home alone allowed me to fully freak out, starting with not knowing what to wear. I needed to look perfect for tonight.
I walk to my bed and pick up my phone. Finding Nat's number I call her. I had gotten her number two days ago before I dropped her off at her house. My excuse was that I'd need it in case I was late picking her up.
Her sweet melodic voice greets me after the second ring. "Remy?"
"Hey." I greet, trying to sound casual.
"Is everything alright?" She asks as if picking up on the nerves in my voice.
"Yeah. I'm fine." No I wasn't. I was freaking about this whole dinner thing to the point where I couldn't decide what to wear
"Remy?" She says firmly. I could just see her crossing her arms and the firey look in her eyes.
One week, I can't believe that's all it took for us to get to know each other. Eight times she's sat in my car as I've driven to and from school. Four times we sat in the library and ate lunch together. It wasn't that long, but I felt like it's been forever.
"I don't know what to wear." I blurt out as I sink to sit on the edge of my bed.
I could hear her trying to muffle her laughter. The sound made me want to curl up under my covers and hide from the world.
"I think I'm going to hang up." I mumbles.
"No, no." Nat says quickly. "Wait, I'm sorry. You don't know what to wear?"
"No." I grumble as I play with the edge of my blanket.
"Well What are your options?" Nat asks softly. She just went with me, didn't question why I was calling.
"Uh..." I look done at the mess of clothes on my floor. "Too much."
There was silence in the other looks be if the phone. I chewed on my lip as I waited for her to speak.
"What's your address?" Her voice makes me jump.
"My address? Why do you need my add-oh you don't need to come over." I say quickly once I realize what she was planning.
"Remy, just give it to me." Nat says firmly and I could picture the fire in her eyes.
I sigh before giving her my address.
"I'll be there in a few minutes." Was all she said before she hung up.
I set my phone on my bed and stare at the wall. Nat was coming to my house. She was going to be in my room. My room which was currently a disaster. And I was naked.
I'm on my feet and scouring through the mess of clothes in seconds. A moment later I pull on a pair of sweatpants. I think they were clean. Before I could find a shirt there was a nick on the door. How did she get here so fast?
I run downstairs and throw open the front door. Her wide brown eyes meet mine, but only for a moment. They drop down to my chest. I'm sure she's seen a guy shirtless before, though she didn't look like it. Her eyes seemed glued to my chest and it was starting to make me self conscious. I clear my throat and her eyes jump back to mine. There was a pink blush on her cheeks that made me smile.
I step back from the door expecting her to follow but she stays outside. "You coming in?" I ask.
She shakes her head as if coming out of a daze. "Oh yeah." She switches to nodding her head as she steps inside.
