Remy
What the hèll did I just let her do? That question ran through my head as I watched the door close behind Natasha. Nat, the girl who chose to go out with her cheating ex over me? I guess I really shouldn't be that surprise. I knew how manipulative Tanner could be. Then why the hèll did I let her go with him?
"Honey before you-oh Remy." Trina, Nat's mom, says as she walks into the hallway.
"She just left." I inwardly cringe at the disappointment in my voice.
"With Tanner?" The disappointment was very clear in her voice.
"Yeah." I nod my head before realizing that my being there was probably weird. "I was just-"
"Stay for dinner?" Trina asks before I could finish my sentence.
The look in her eyes told me she wasn't going to take no for an answer. "Okay."
She nods her head before turning around. I follow her into the dining room where her husband and son were sitting. Mr. Walsh, Andrew, looks up when I walk in. A look of confusion crosses his face.
"Natasha just left." Trina says as he stands up to shake my hand.
"I know. Met her on her way out." I explain as I return his hand shake.
"Did you two have plans tonight?" Andrew asks, clearly not satisfied by my answer.
I shrug my shoulders, trying to pretend her standing me up wasn't that big a deal. "We were going to go to the movies, but guess I forgot she made plans with Tanner. If I'm honest I was only half listening when she told me, was too busy tryin to pay attention to the teacher." It was strange how easily taking the fall for her was.
I didn't even buy what I was saying so it wasn't surprising to see the skeptical look that passed between the couple.
"He's going to join us for dinner." Trina says before gesturing to an empty seat.
"Perfect night. Trina made enchiladas." Andrew says as re retakes his seat.
"Well if they're anything like the spaghetti I had them I'm sure I'll love them." I says as I take the seat across from Trevor, who was looking at me with narrowed eyes.
"I thought you were Tasha's new boyfriend?" Trevor asks and tilts his head to the side. "Why is she out with Tanner?"
Good question kid. I shake my head. "We're just friends. She went out with Tanner to...talk." At least I hoped that's all that they were doing.
"That's confusing." Trevor says before going back to playing with his silverware. I wasn't exactly sure what the kid was doing.
"Do you happen to know what he wants to talk to her about?" Trina asks. The look of hope on her face pained me, knowing I couldn't answer her question.
I shake my head and watch her smile fade. "I don't."
"Maybe the boys come to his senses and realized what a grave mistake he's made." Andrew say in a hopes to cheer his wife up.
Knowing Tanner, he had not come to his senses. If anything he was hoping to have his cake and eat it too.
Trina returns from the kitchen and sets a plateful of enchiladas on the table. Favor doesn't wait to grab two and put them on his plate. "Honey, let our quest go first." Trina scolds him.
"It's okay. He's probably growing more than I am." I says and shake my head at her concern.
"How tall are you?" Andrew asks.
"Six foot one." I tell him. "Pretty sure I'm done growing. At least I hope so. I already tower over people."
"Natasha is only, what? Five feet and..." Andrew trails off and looks to his wife.
"Five foot four." Trina answers before taking her seat.
I knew she was short, but not that short. A faint smile forms in my lips as I think about all the teasing I'm going to do. Trina passes me the plate of enchiladas and I put two on my plate. They pass around toppings until my plate is piled with delicious food.
