School ends and I head out to the parking lot. I walks over to where Remy's car was parked or should he parked. Currently I was standing in an empty parking spot. Did he leave without me? Or maybe I got the wrong spot. Maybe he parked my the other street light.
I walks over to the next street light, but no car. He did leave me. Guess I'm going to have to call my mom or dad to pick me up. On a scale of amazing to sucky, today was verging on hèll.
I sigh and turn back towards the school. Before I can get to the curb a car honking about give me a heart attack. I turn to give a death glare to whoever dares honk at me and see Remy's scowling face. Why was he in a bad mood? I'm the one he left.
He rolls down the window and motions me to get in the car. I stop my way over and get in the passenger seat. He already had the music blasting. Of course it was Halsey playing.
"What's up with you?" Remy asks as I get in. The door slams shut and he shoots me a glare. "Careful."
"Where were you?" I snap at him.
"Where was I when?" Remy asks as he navigates his way out of the parking lot.
"When I came out. You were gone." I could barely hear myself over Halsey singing about being bad at love.
"I went to get my car so I could pick you up." Remy says and looks over at me. His hand moves to the stereo and turns down the music. "I was trying to be nice and bit make you walk as far. Remind me not to do that again."
I sink in my seat as I realize I had jumped to conclusions and gotten mad at him for nothing. "Oh. Thanks."
"You better thank me. I usually get out of there before the exodus happens." He was referring to the mass of students in their cars trying to leave at once.
"Wait, don't you have practice today?" I asks as I suddenly remember he's on the school's football team. Was he missing practice just to drive me home?
Remy shakes his head. "Nope. It was yesterday."
I nod my head. That was good. He turns the music back up and we sing along to Halsey the rest of the way to my house.
"You seriously like Halsey don't you." I comment once Remy pulls into my driveway.
"I don't like her. I love her." Remy says and turns to face me. His face was very serious. "She is fucking amazing. And yes, the f-word was necessary."
I laugh and rolls my eyes.
"What?"
"Nothing." I hope out of the car before he could ask any more question. Tanner never loved and music artist. He had random songs from random artists he liked, but not a favorite. It was refreshing to see a guy who loved an artist and wasn't afraid to show it.
"Nat?" Remy calls after me from his rolled down window.
I pause and turns around to face him. "Yes?"
"You got a restroom I could use?"
Seriously boy? "Nope, but we have an outhouse."
Remy rolls his eyes. He rolls up his window before getting out of the car. "You ever talk in anything other than sarcasm?"
"Of course I do. I talk in English too." I skip up to the front door and walk inside. "I have returned." I announce as I kick off my shoes.
"How was school?" My Mom asks as she peaks her head out of the living room. "Oh Remy. Nice to see you again."
I can feel Remy's body behind me. Why was he so close to me. I twist my head to looks up at him. He started down at me with arches eyebrows. "Want to move out of the doorway?"
"No." I say before hopping out of his way. "Bathrooms the second door on the left. I instruct as I point down the hallway.
Remy nods his head before walking away. Once he was in the bathroom I meet my mom in the living room.
"How was school?" She asks as she gives me a hug.
"Oh you know, the usually avoided my cheating boyfriend only to run into him before lunch." I say nonchalantly. I really didn't want to cry again.
My mom gives me that looks she's been giving me for the last day. The one where her lips frown and her eyes look at me with a sad glint.
I shrug my shoulders. "It's okay."
My mom nods her head. She knew when to push and when to step back. "I know. How about we have Remy stay for dinner."
"Stay for what?" Remy asks, choosing that moment to enter the room.
"Stay for dinner." My Mom says and give Remy one of her winning smiles. "Unless you have plans tonight."
Remy looks over at me with a half panicked, half questioning look.
"Don't look at me." I shake my head. I wasn't going to make this decision for him.
"No, I don't have any plan." Remy tells my mom.
"Great! Hope you like spaghetti." My mom says, her smile growing brighter. The only person I would have stay for dinner was usually Tanner. My mom loved company, so when anyone new was over she acted like it was Christmas.
"I do." Remy replies as my mom walks out of the room and into the kitchen.
"My Mom makes this amazing spaghetti sauce." I say to break the silence that followed with my mom's departure. Why did things suddenly get awkward between us when there were other people around.
"My Grandma makes spaghetti sauce from scratch." Remy says. He sounded just as awkward as I felt.
I press my lips together and looks around the room. "So this is my living room."
Remy scams the room and nods his head. "Nice, Nice."
"Would you two mind helping set the table." My Mom calls from the kitchen, saving us from the riveting conversation we were having.
"Be right there." I call back. "You have set a table before?" I arch an eyebrow at Remy.
He rolls his eyes. "Once or twice."
