The time is getting close to midnight and not a word from Roach, the dirty cop, who hasn't had contact with any of us for a long while. Hours ago I sent numerous texts to his personal phone asking, as polite as I could, for his immediate help. I didn't use my name, for identity purposes but, I did mention that I'm a close friend of YoonGi. Zico, Jimin, Dean and I were sitting in a car a block away from the police station, waiting for Roach to head home for the night. Currently, the plan was to follow him home and give him a bit of a surprise reunion.
Roach, or Ricardo Mitchell, is Miguel's former partner in the local police department. Miguel was one of the most trustworthy and caring dirty cops that YoonGi could find in the system. He was so caring that he begged Namjoon, for days, not to get Roach involved because of his kids. Unfortunately, Miguel accidentally got Roach mixed up in this when he decided to bring him along to a gang related crime scene for back up. Long story short, Jiyong and his boys were watching the two cops investigate when they were supposed to be off duty and used that opportunity to try to kill them both.
When Miguel was shot by Infamous, one night, Roach bailed out on us completely. He has stopped handing us personal Infamous files and stopped answering to YoonGi's texts and calls. Tonight, as much as I would hate to do it, I had to get him back in fully.
"What if he doesn't leave tonight? He could be buried in paperwork," Dean worried.
I said, "If he doesn't leave, I'll go in and have a talk with him."
"But JungKook-"
"We need him," I sharply said.
Boy, did it pain me to say that. I never thought we really needed any help, especially from a cop.
Jimin groaned, "I hope Ji-won doesn't rat us all out."
"Me too," I sighed heavily, "Talking with him, earlier, didn't exactly go right. If he rats, it'll be out of revenge."
Dean sighed a bit and unfastened his seat belt.
"I'm hungry, does anyone else want something to eat?" He asked politely.
Jimin replied, "Yea, actually. I'll go with."
Dean turned to Zico and I with his hand opened to us.
"How about you two? We've been sitting here since 7," Dean continued, "You guys should eat something. If you don't have the money, I'll just pay myself."
I declined, "Nah, man. I'll be fine, thanks."
"Same. I'm not really hungry anyway," Zico said softly, "If you're not back by the time Roach leaves, we're going without you."
Jimin assured, "We won't be long."
While Jimin and Dean exited the car, one after the other, Zico unfastened his seat belt as he tried getting more comfortable. He began yawning while stretching his arms out in front of him. His yawn was as contagious as a virus. I found myself yawning as well as growing sleepier with every second. I rested my head back against the head rest, of the seat, as I sunk deeper into my jacket for comfort and warmth.
"Man," Zico muttered, "I'd give anything for this bullshit to end."
I nodded, "Same here."
"Ever since I decided to walk with the enemy, my life has been nothing but straight up stress and paranoia. When I changed sides, betraying them all, I've never been more scared for my life," Zico confessed.
With my eyes closing, I raised a brow as I wondered:
"Are they that badass?"
Zico mocked, "Are they?"
