When I arrived at Corner, the delivery truck was already parked on the side street next to the shop. It was Tuesday morning and the shipment of new guitars that my father had ordered had finally arrived.
As the driver hauled them in, I opened each box to check for any imperfections. Before putting them out onto the sales floor, they needed to be polished, tuned, and checked for any imperfections. It was a lot to do for one person. Since I also had to watch the storefront, my father said that he would be sending Trevor to come help out in the back.
This got me excited. It would be the first time that we would see each other since our amazing date that past Saturday.
As I unboxed a beautiful white Gibson Les Paul, the front door opened.
"Need a hand?" A familiar voice spoke.
I looked up and smiled.
"Molly!" I shrieked, "I didn't expect to see you here! I didn't think you were coming home anytime soon because of your internship!"
She gave me a big hug. My little sister looked radiant in her cute little sun dress and her hair cut short into a perfect pixie. Her skin had a sun-kissed glow to it and she looked truly happy to be home.
"How long are you in town?" I asked her.
"Only for a couple of hours. I figured you could use an extra hand with the shipment. How is the guy that Dad found working out here at the shop?"
I smiled. "Perfectly! Sis, he's amazing!"
She looked me in the eyes and gave me a smirk. "Oh really... Is something going on between you two?"
I began to blush.
"You like like him! OH. MY. GOSH!" She said, jumping up and down.
"I took him to Little Italy on Saturday. It was perfect!" I exclaimed.
Just then, I heard the back door of the shop open and Trevor walked in.
"Hey, Keri!" He quickly said before going straight back to his repair room, where several guitars were sitting beside his work bench waiting to be inspected.
"Is that him?!" She said giddily, "I've got to go meet him!" She rushed off to the back to go introduce herself.
"Molly..." I called to her. She ignored me.
I wondered what her reaction would be since I didn't get the chance to tell her that he was blind. She was in for a shocker. I patiently waited in the front of the store for Molly to come out.
I heard the creak of the door and she walked out with stunned look on her face.
"... Well?" I asked.
She shrugged.
"I have so many questions, but I'm not gonna ask them. As long as he treats you right and makes you happy, then I'm happy for you. But there is one thing that Papa isn't going to like about him."
"Does it have anything to do with his eye sight?" I asked.
"No..." She put her hands on her hips, "He's definitely not Italian!"
Her serious face turned into a smile and we both cracked up laughing.
"I love you, Sis!"
"I love you, too, Keri!"

Molly stayed for about an hour and helped polish up the new guitars. After she left, Trevor was still finishing up the guitars in the back. I opened up the door to the repair room.
"How's it going back here, Trevor?" I asked.
He was playing a thumping out a melody on a beautiful Epiphone Thunderbird bass. Gosh, how many instruments could he play?
"I think I'm gonna buy this Thunderbird when I save up enough money. What color is it?"
"Sunburst."
"Rad!" His face lit up, "How much is it?"
"It's about six-hundred dollars."
"Damn. It's probably gonna take a while before I am able to buy it, especially since I'm not working every day. Can you make sure that nobody buys this bass while I'm gone?"
"I can try. These kinds of bass guitars are a hot item though."
He sighed.
"Then why don't you just not put it out on display?" He asked.
"Sorry. I have to. My father has the place rigged with security cameras. He knows what guitars are supposed to be on that wall."
He unplugged the bass and handed it to me. "I suppose I can't keep it back here forever. I guess you can put it up for sale. It just needs to be polished, since I can't see to do it. "
I felt bad. I wished I could have let him have it.
I polished it up and put it on the wall. As the day went on, several customers eyeballed the guitar and tested it out.
"Sorry. This bass guitar is not for sale. It's on hold for another customer," I told several people.
"Hey Keri, what are you doing tomorrow night?" Trevor asked me as he made his way up to the front of the store.
"I was just planning on staying at home with my cat and binge-watching Netflix. Why, what's up?" I asked him.
"Tomorrow is my birthday. Even though I told them that I am too old for parties, my foster parents insisted on throwing a party for me in their backyard around six o'clock tomorrow night. If you decide to come, you will be meeting some of my other foster siblings. If you think that might be too much too soon, I completely understand if you don't want to go. I know we've only been on one date and meeting my family for the first time can be a little daunting."
I didn't hesitate.
"Trevor, of course I'll go! And I would love to meet your family!"
"Great. I'll text you my address. See you tomorrow night then."
"Have a good night, Trevor."
He walked out of the store and down the street to his apartment. After I locked the store up, I took the sunburst Thunderbird off of the bass wall and put it in its case. I glanced up at the security camera.
"Sorry, Papa. I will pay you back later!" I mouthed at the camera, knowing that he saw me.
