Later on I woke up. I frantically scrambled to my feet as I saw the dead man and woman. I turned to look onto the bed, I saw Zues wagging his tail with a open smile. The little girl was sleeping beside him. "Oh no, really..." I said with a big sigh. I tugged on the little girl's arm. "Wake up." I said. "Huh?" The little girl said with a long yawn. "Whats your name?" I said bending down to look at the girl. "Shelly!" She said with a long giggle.
"Yes... Well were going to change that, I don't want any slight memory of these people. You already remind me enough of them, no offense. What other name would you want?" I said swaying back and forth looking around. "Sandy, or Telly!" She said pouncing on the bed. "mm... I am not sure about that... Lets give you the name.... Nicole." I said as she nodded in approval.
"Now, we must leave, I don't want to be here any longer..." I said grabbing a brown backpack. "B-but why are we leaving?" She said jumping to the floor. "We aren't safe here, have you been outside in the past few weeks?" I said hesitantly as I headed out the room, down the creaking stairs. Her and Zues followed behind. "N-no, mama, and papa wouldn't let me go out anymore, it wasn't fair." She said with a cute, innocent voice.
"There is scary things out there, and we must leave before they come..." I said opening the cabinets and grabbing supplies. I looked around for a med. kit for Zues's leg. "Where is the medicine?" I said bending down to Nicole's level. "I-I don't remember, b-but I think the laundry room." She said uncertainly, tilting her head. "Okay." I stated rushing down the hall looking threw the doors, a bedroom, bathroom, then... laundry room!
I opened a cabinet that was under the sink and pushed aside laundry detergent, paper towels, towels... then med. kit! "Yes!" I screamed in joy, I snatched the med. kit as if I was a black friday sale. "Whats wong!!" Nicole said with her wobbling feet. "Oh nothing, nothing but good!" I said bending down to Zues, petting his face. I opened the med. kit. Not much left...
Bandaging supplies, and a few tablespoons of rubbing alcohol left in a bottle. The good thing is that, this is all I pretty much needed. "Okay... Nicole, I need you to hold onto Zues... as tight as possible." I said unscrewing the bottle cap. "O-okay..." Nicole said as she sat on top of Zues's back and held her arms around his neck.
I grabbed Zues's leg tightly. He gave a long whimper. "It's okay boy." I said with a calming voice, I quickly put the rubbing alcohol down one of his front legs. He wiggled, and wiggled frantically. But the light weight of Nicole and my hold on him was to much for him to run away.
Once he calmed down a little more I grabbed the bandaging. It was a light brown color that reminded me of cabins and pumpkins. I grabbed his leg and wrapped it down and up, over and over till I thought it was a good amount so it wouldn't bleed or get infected, but at the same time wouldn't make it to where he couldn't walk properly.
"Good boy Zues, Nicole say good boy!" I said with a gleaming smile. "Gud bow!" Nicole said with a cute giggle. "We must leave now though, Nicole..." I said grabbing the brown backpack, I tossed it over my back. "Wha, why?" She said sadly. "I already told you, do you have anything you want to get?" I said standing back up. "Mmm..... oh my fluffy unicorn!" She said running down the hall and up the creaking stairs.
"Hold on!" I hollered as Zues followed behind. I went up the creaking stairs, all the way down the hall into her room. I shut the door behind Zues. "I can't find it, it was on my bed!" She said with tears in her eyes, frantically she threw her pillows. "Calm down, it must be around somewhere." I said looking around her room. All colored in pink and lime green. She seemed happy with this room.
It was the nicest looking room in the house. "We really need to go, Nicole hurry up..." I said nervously thinking about the walkers coming our way from the highway. "I am trying!" She yelled viciously looking threw her closet. I went over to her bed, I looked on top and under. No sight of a fluffy unicorn plushie. Then I heard the front door. Cre--akkk. "Nicole, don't move!" I whispered tugging on her flowered dress. "Why not?" She stated looking around for a trouble.
"Someone is in the house." I said telling Zues to hide in the closet. "Oh no, I am scared..." She said crying. "Quiet, you need to hide. Go with Zues. Don't move, don't make a sound. He will protect you." I said in a quiet but rushy voice leading her into the closet. I shut the door behind her. I decided not to lock the door, otherwise whoever came in, would know someone is in here.
I turned off the light. I quickly ran under her bed as I could hear a creaking stair. one-two-three-four-five. I counted. Like I did with the man. I squished myself more under the bed, I looked around under the bed. There was a pink bat. I put it by my side, if I need it. twelve- thirteen-fourteen... It stopped. I started to sweat. A lot. I could see all around the room, well if someone was walking I could see mostly feet...
Then I heard a door. It wasn't Nicole's bedroom door though. "Oh my...!" I heard a guy say in a deep voice. "What on earth, happened here!" Another person said in surprise. Must, have been the guest bedroom. I heard the door slam close. I heard heavy footsteps coming down the hall. I scooted up to see the door. The door handle moved.
