Skypaw's POV
After battle training, Flamepaw and I were exhausted. Like, we could barely walk exhausted. And Cinderheart and Lionblaze were only panting. StarClan, they have lots of stanima. I couldn't stop thinking about Flamepaw's dream. She didn't tell me what it was about, but just as we were going to sleep again, I swear I saw Tigerstar. And from the look on Flamepaw's face, she saw him too. I didn't want to bring it up because Flamepaw clearly didn't want to talk about it, and I really didn't want to fight with her. I'm still in shock that I'm a flipping cat. I mean, what about our parents? I love the Warriors, yes, and I always wanted to become one, but I've got family back in the human world! They're going to be freaking out! By now, Tess's mum would have noticed that we're missing, but Flamepaw doesn't seemed worried about it. I mean, ok, she really doesn't get on with her parents. Like at all. (a/n this is totally true. Im retty sure my parent hate me at times) But she still should care at least a little bit.
"Hey, Skypaw. You good there?" Cherrypaw asked, breaking me out of my thoughts. All the apprentices were just lazing around in our den, before we have to go collect moss for the elders. Downside of being a Warriors apprentice, but it comes with the territory. (Haha territory get it? Like the Clan territories? No? Ok then. :-( )
"Huh? Yeah, I'm totally fine." I answered, not really paying attention.
"Ok. So anyway, as I was saying. The foxes were right by us....." I zoned out on Cherrypaw's chatter. Shew as recounting the time when she was training at the top of the hollow and Hollyleaf saved her and her brother from the foxes. I knew the story, of course. I knew every story to do with the warriors. Call me obssessed, but I'm just a dedicated Warriors fan.
"Flamepaw? Skypaw? Squirrelflight would like to see you." Dustleaf poked his head inside the den.
"Um okay." Flamepaw rose and I followed her out to where Squirrelflight was waiting for us, in a small corner of the camp.
"Do you two know why you are here?" She asked us. We both shook our heads no.
"Bramblestar wants to have a small group of warriors that are especially talented in something as a sort of defence group, you could call it. He would like both of you to be in it." Squirrelflight said.
"Wait, WHAT?" Flamepaw looked as shocked as I felt. "Why? Why us? We're not that special."
"That's where you're wrong. Skypaw, you have amazing speed. A WindClan cat couldn't match you. And Flamepaw, you're jumps are incredible. I've never even heard of a cat who can do what you did with the hawk. You would be great assets to the team." She flicked her tail.
"Who else would be with us?" I asked.
"Lionblaze, Dovewing, and occasionally Jayfeather." She replied.
Flamepaw and I exchanged glances. "We'd love to be in it!" She chattered excitedly.
"Great! Now I know you're both exhausted so get some sleep. All of you will be training together tomorrow." Squirrelflight said, and flicked her tail to dismiss us.
My fur was pricking with excitement. I couldn't believe that the two of us had been chosen!! I still don't get how we have these abilities though. Yes, we had them as twolegs. But I never knew they were that extended.
Flamepaw curled up close to me in our nest. She fell asleep instantly, while I took ages. I could feel her body twitchiing, as if she was having another bad dream. Suddenly, her claws came unsheathed and she raked my side.
"YOW! Flamepaw, watch it will you!!!" I glared at her.
She sat up, guiltily. "I'm so sorry. Cats were attacking me in my dream and I reacted.... I didn't realize I'd actually scratch you."
I twisted around and licked at my side. The scratch wasn't deep and I didn't need to see Jayfeather, but it hurt. A lot.
"It's fine. Try to sleep more peacefully will you?" I sighed and closed my eyes.
Flamepaw's POV
*the next morning*
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Highledge for a Clan meeting!" Bramblestar's call woke me. I wonder what he's calling a Clan meeting for?
Skypaw and I padded sleepily outside. The first thing I saw was Cherrypaw and Molepaw waiting eagerly below our leader. It must be their Warrior Ceremony.
*Skips it because I can't remember the words I'm sorry*
"Cherryfall! Molewhisker! Cherryfall! Molewhisker!" The Clan called out as the two new warrior held their heads high.
"Also, Daisy's and Brightheart's kits are nearly 6 moons old and will soon be made apprentices." Bramblestar added, before jumping down from the Highledge to congratulate the new warriors.
Skypaw and I pushed our way forwards to our former denamntes.
"Well done you two!!" I exclaimed, rubbing my cheek against Cherrypaw's.
"Thanks Flamepaw. It'll be yoour turn soon enough, what with how good you are at fitting into Clan life." She purred back. Skypaw was talking to Molewhisker nearby.
"Skypaw! Flamepaw! Come on!" Lionblaze called out to us.
I glanced at Cherryfall apologetically. "Sorry. Duty calls!" Then I ran off after my mentor.
"So basically today we're going to test how powerful your skills actually are." Dovewing told us.
I pricked my ears in excitement. This was going to be fun!!
We stopped once we reached the training hollow. "Ok, Skypaw. We're going to count how long it takes for you to run around the trainging hollow 5 times." Lionblaze meowed. My eyes widened fractionally. The hoolow was massive! It was about the size of two average human school classrooms.
"Ok." Skypaw replied, and tthen started sprinting. Dovewing counted silently. When my best friend skidded to a halt beside us, dovewing blinked in surprise. "That only took you 49 seconds!" She mewed shocked. StarClan, she was fast.
"That's good Skypaw. I get the feeling you can go even faster though." Lionblaze said. Skypaw nodded, panting.
"Flamepaw, see that oaktree?" He pointed his tail. I nodded.
"See how high up it you can jump. With a running start then without."
I crouched, narrowing my eyes, then sprinted towards the tree. When I was about a taillength out, I jumped. My claws snagged the trunk about 5 metres up, before I dropped back down landing on my paws.
"That was absolutely amazing!" Dovewing breathed, her eyes wide. My whiskers twitched smugly, before I tensed and leapt again, this time jumping about 3 metres up, since there was no running start.
"How you two do this is beyond me." Lionblaze muttered.
Skypaw and I exchanged satisfied looks as I trotted back to them. Suddenly, we froze as I heard a sound I was all to familiar with.
"DOG!!" I yowled.
