"I brush the awkward feeling off as I open the fridge "So, what do you want for breakfast?" "
We eat breakfast and think about what we're going to do today. "Before that I wanna give you your presents!" Kokichi says excitedly. He motions for me to sit down on the couch, opening the closet he shoved all those bags in yesterday. I see him place a small bag back in the closet. Huh? That's weird. Maybe it's for someone else, or himself. Either way, he got me a lot of stuff, none of which I deserve.
He sits down beside me and starts looking at the bags. "Hmm.. Open this one first!" He picks up a bag and hands it to me. I open it and pull out a black and white checkered scarf, matching the one he normally wears. He looks at me with hope that I'll like it, slight fear evident in his eyes. "I love it Kokichi! Thank you!" I hug him and open the rest of my presents, each better than the last.
After I open all 27 gifts Kokichi gave me I look at the time, 1:37. Wow, it's late already. "What time did we tell Rantaro and Kaito we would meet them at? Was it 2?" "2:30" he corrected me, looking at the clock. "If we leave in about half an hour we should be good. For now what do you wanna do?" I think for a moment. "Let's have a tea party!" I exclaim enthusiastically "A-a what?" He asks, confused. "A tea party! You know! Like the ones we always have! With the stuffed animals!!!" He scratches his neck awkwardly. "I-I thought you hated those, but yeah! I'd love to!" I see his eyes light up with joy.
I get as many mini tea cups as I can and all of my stuffed animals. I start boiling the water for the tea and sit down at the table. Kokichi smiles at me, despair reminiscent in his eyes. "Kokichi, what's wrong? You seem upset." He looks down. "I just" He pauses and takes a deep breath. "I thought you hated these, I'm such a terrible boyfriend. I should know everything that you like, I'm so useless.."
He goes to punch himself, I panic and grab his arm. "Kokichi.. Please. Don't hurt yourself, I love you, and I don't care that you thought I hated these." I point to the massive pile of gifts he gave me. "-Because you still know me better than anyone else, and you certainly care about me the most. Do you really think any other person would go this far, just for me?" I stand up and wrap my arms around him. "Kokichi I love you so much, nothing can change that. You're the best boyfriend I could have ever asked for, you mean everything to me.
After our tea party we leave the house and head to where we agreed to meet Rantaro and Kaito for lunch. We sit down at the table and wait for them. After a few minutes Rantaro shows up, holding a bag. He smiles and greets us, wishing me a happy birthday. He sits down and looks around. "Huh? Kaito's not here yet? That's weird, he texted me to tell me he was leaving a while ago. He should've gotten here before me." He shrugs his shoulders "He probably got caught in traffic or something."
We sit and wait for Kaito, not wanting to order without him. We wait for about half an hour and begin to get worried. "H-He probably just went to the wrong place. I'll call and tell him the address." Rantaro says, dialling the number and stepping outside. I see his face fill up with fear the longer the phone rings. Eventually I see him shove his phone into his pocket, walking slowly back inside. Kokichi and I look at him "Well?" He looks to the side. "He didn't answer" He goes to say something else but cuts himself off. "What?" I ask, wanting to know as much information as possible.
"Well I went to check his location to see if maybe he stopped at a store or something on the way here but.. it said he was still at home." I feel myself freeze, shivers run down my spine. All three of us looked at each other with worry. We have to go there.
