The five days of which Theresa had given Maia and Micah seemed to go by quicker than Maia anticipated. Not that she wasn't eager to see her grandparents again, but Maia felt quite sad that she had to pack up and leave the great group of friends that she had made at Athalone Prepatory. Speaking of which, Maia hadn't even told them that she was leaving, let alone tell them that she was practically expelled from Athalone Prep.
The day before they had to leave, Maia got a text message from Jaimie.
Jaimiiiiee❤️ty-dye4ever: Maia, wtf????????!
Maia frowned as she glanced down at her screen, trying to decipher what she had done to deserve such a cryptic message from her friend. She paused when she realized that she had done plenty from avoiding Jaimie's calls when she didn't show up to school, not telling Jaimie about the expulsion, not telling Jaimie about leaving... but she wasn't sure which one her friend was possibly mad about at this particular moment in time. Maybe it was all of them at once.
Maia proceeded cautiously when she slowly typed out her next message.
Maiamamamia🔥: By "Maia, wtf" I hope you mean, Maia where's the fudge?😅
Jaimie's response was almost instantaneous.
Jaimiiiiee❤️ty-dye4ever: Don't be cute. Why didn't you tell me that you left Athalone?
Maiamamamia🔥: Is that what Principal Jenkins is telling people? I recall being escorted out by security...🤔
Jaimiiiiee❤️ty-dye4ever: Maia. Be serious.
Maiamamamia🔥: Okay. Yeah, I "left".

Maia's heart sank as she quickly tried to think of how to placate her visibly upset friend.

Maiamamamia🔥: I mean yes! Of course I was going to tell you! I just didn't know how to... as lame as it sounds. I just felt a bit embarrassed about it... but I know it's not the best excuse. It's just, Principal Jenkins said some stuff about Micah and I got really upset and I just blew up...
Maiamamamia🔥: Of course we're good friends. You're an amazing friend. I'm the suckish friend. I'm sorry Jaimes. I'm completely and utterly ashamed about my appalling behavior 😞💔
