It was a week after Douglas's attack, and we still had made no progress. Uncle D was trying to fix something, but it blew up in his face. Literally.
"Great," he said, "Everything in the lab is officially useless, and I don't have any money to repair it."
"Look, I know my mom didn't marry you for your money," Leo said, "But I haven't been putting up with your antics for this long for nothing."
"Mr. Davenport, take your time with the lab," Bree reassured, "I don't mind staying up here. I mean, it won't make up for living in a basement for sixteen years, but it's a start."
"Besides," I chimed in, "I still have a savings account from down south. It's not extravagant, but it'll get us by for awhile."
"Zoey, you don't have to do that," Uncle D said, "We can just used Leo's college fund."
"Wha- excuse me?" Leo snapped.
"Anyways," Uncle D said, trying to divert from Leo, "We don't have time. Your capsules have regenerative capabilities. They're crucial to your bionic infrastructures."
"Huh?" Adam asked.
"Let me help," Chase replied, "Capsule gooooood!"
"But, I haven't been in my capsule all week and I feel fine," Bree said.
"Well, it's only a matter of time before your bionics go haywire," Uncle D explained.
"Well, do you know when exactly?" Adam asked, "Because I have a haircut on Tuesday and if I glitch in the chair, I'm just gonna end up looking like that train wreck."
"Look. I get it," Chase said, "I'm short, I look like a lady golfer, and I have a terrible haircut. What else you got?"
"How long do you have?" Adam asked.
"Clingy, overreactive, has no sense of privacy," I muttered.
"What was that?" Chase snapped.
"What? You said it. You wanted a break," I replied bluntly, "I've wanted to say that forever."
"Yeah?" Chase snapped, "Well you're- you're— I got nothin'"
"Look," Uncle D said, "The longer you go without your capsules, the more likely you are to glitch, so don't use your bionics until I get enough money to rebuild the lab."
"Uh oh," Adam warned, "I feel a glitch coming on!"
He punched Chase in the shoulder, who jumped back in pain.
"You know what?" Chase said, "I feel one coming on too."
He pushed Adam to the ground.
"You wanna get some popcorn, this is too good," Bree remarked as we watched the two of them.
"Hey, it's not funny when you hurt me," Adam protested, "It's just rude."
"Yeah, wanna coke too?" I asked, and Bree nodded.

"Okay everybody, family meeting time," Uncle D announced, and we all gathered in the living room.
"Adam you don't need to raise your hand to speak, just talk," he said.
"No, I've got nothing to say," Adam explain, "I'm just airing out my pits."
"The reason why I called this meeting is because we need to make some cut-backs in the family budget, starting with loosing our cell phones."
Bree and Chase yelled in protest while I smiled, quite glad that I payed my own cell phone bill. Granted, it was a pay-per-gig phone that was worth about $50, but let's face it. I didn't need much.
