One minute.

Two minutes.

Three minutes.

Chase and I were still staring at each other. I don't know what I had been thinking, kissing him like that. He had been the one who had asked for a break, I should've waited until he was ready. But the timing had just felt right, and I just couldn't wait any longer.

I needed him, regardless of whether or not he needed me.

Four minutes.

Five minutes.

Six minutes.

We were still staring at each other. I desperately wanted him to say something, anything. Because I didn't know what to say.

Then again, he probably didn't know what to say either.

Seven minutes.

Eight minutes.

Nine minutes.

Okay, I'll admit it. All this staring was getting a little awkward. I didn't know what to think at this point, and I almost turned and walked away.

Then he started leaning in...

Ten minutes.

Then it hit me.

Rachel.

She was still at her school.

Crap.

"Oh God Chase," I winced, "Look, I really don't wanna ruin the moment–"

"I think you just did," he remarked, standing up straight again.

"We can finish this later," I reassured, "But we really have to do something first."

I opened the door of Objective River High School to find a ghost town. Granted, it hadn't exactly been bustling with activity when I had visited a couple of hours earlier, but I had heard classes going on. Now, there was nothing.

"Are you sure this is the place?" Bree asked.

"Yeah, I know a creepy castle when I see one," Adam said, and then looked at me gravely, "This is a creepy castle."

"Just follow me," I said, picking up my pace towards the office. When we got there, I shoved open the door and ran around the desk. When I looked under it, the first thing I noticed was that Miss Seight wasn't there.

And the other thing I noticed was Rachel laying there, bruised and bloody.

"Rachel!" I cried, rushing over to her and feeling for a pulse, "She's still alive, but barely."

"Quick, Bree, get Rachel to the lab," Chase ordered.

"On it!" Bree replied, grabbing Rachel and speeding her off to the lab.

Adam, Chase, and I all stood there for a minute.

"Wasn't that the girl who always got bullied," Adam asked.

"Yep," I replied, "But this wasn't a bully. Krane was controlling her with the Triton App, and probably everyone else at the school."

"So Krane can control people who aren't bionic too?" Chase asked.

"I guess we're gonna find out," I replied.

Looking back to where Rachel was, I saw a handwritten note on the ground where Rachel had been. I could've sworn it hadn't been there a minute ago, but leave it to me to be unobservant.
