"Are you sure you're okay? It seems like you used up your energy earlier."
"Thanks, but I'm really fine. I'm really late for first period gotta go."
The moment I stepped out of the car, I was greeted by countless pairs of eyes. Do they even know that this school doesn't require uniforms? Or are they just poor enough to stare at my clothes. Or perhaps....the broken glass window? As if I care.
I went to my room and quietly sat at the back.
Then it hit me. That memory that keeps haunting me. But before I could do anything that may cause a commotion, I quickly pushed the thought at the corner of my mind.
Unlike before, I learned how to control my emotions. I learned how to defend myself. Guess I've grown.
And as every first day would go, there's that time called self-introduction. And I really hate being at the eyes of people.
When my turn came, I was a little nervous, afraid of letting the power go out of my control. I drew a deep breath and went in front.
As I walked past other students, I saw some girls whisper to each other while the others are looking intensely. I can see some guys staring with envy in their eyes.
Instead of being flattered, it just made me nervous. But I didn't think of it. Hoping to gain my full control again. And then I remembered my gloves, guess I'm safe.
"Hi, I'm Kevin Rainer Hamilton. Pleased to meet you."
I sent my killer smile and winked at the closest girl.
Then I went back to my seat and exhaled deeply. Good thing I remembered my leather gloves. I stared at it for some time and decided to remove it for a while to test.
I slowly removed the glove on my right hand and tried opening my palm.
Nothing happened.
I did the same to my other hand and did the same.
Nothing happened.
I am relieved that my hunch earlier turned out to be just a simple hunch.
You see, I can control my power but not in all conditions. I lose my control over it when I'm nervous, threatened, or angry. That's why I wear my gloves during such situations. Somehow, it negates my power for a reason that even I don't know.
It's already 4:00 p.m. now and I don't see my car in any direction or in the parking lot of the school.
I desperately want to go home now. School, well pretty much beat the hell out of me. I mean, there's no homework or anything but my cool and patience evaporated like boiling water because of boring lectures, redundant introductions, and tiresome schoolmates. Friends? I don't have such useless things. Simply because I don't need one.
And I don't want to hurt one.
*Beep beep
The car's here. I immediately hopped in, eager to go home and lie on bed and avoid traffic during rush hours.
As the driver's driving obviously, I decided to sleep on the way to our house. Of course I want to escape traffic and for God's sake theres a thing called sleeping.
I quickly paired my airpods with my iPhone and played a random playlist and slowly drifted to a deep slumber.
I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was an innocent man which are chased by a group of people wearing uniforms. Wait, guards?
And who the heck is this man?
The old man made a quick turn to a dim alley but for his dismay another group of guards emerged from the alley.
A trap.
There the old man glanced quickly from side to side looking for a way out but unfortunately found nothing but a bunch of desperate guards desperately wanting to capture him.
With no other choice, the man jumped high in the air. I was surprised with his high jump but I was shocked when he stayed mid air. How the heck did he do that? Was he, a mage? Was he, like me? Am I, a mage?
Confused with all sorts of thoughts in my mind, I quietly looked for any strange thing that old man would do.
The man stretched his arms wide open and suddenly the swarm of guards from both sides halted. I can see a faint glow of sea green in their outlines. What's strange is that they seem to be frozen in their place. I mean they can't do any sort of movement.
Then the man looked at them and sighed. "What should I do with you? Oh I think you need a taste of my power."
The guards also floated mid-air but stopped just a few feet below the old man. Or should I say mage? I don't know.
Then the swarm of guards moved closer to the mage. It seems like there is a force that seems to pull them towards the mage.
"Tell your queen that I don't give a damn to her orders and tell her to stop her little games on me because..." the mage halted.
He whispered to the closest guard "You won't bear at least a quarter of my power."
As if on cue, the guards repelled from each other and came flying to different directions. Most are severely injured and others remained unconscious lying on the cold and dirty street.
"That old witch!" the mage muttered to himself.
*Beeeeeeeepp
I quickly opened my eyes and I just noticed that I was panting and was drenched in cold sweat.
"What in the world was that?"
"Youngmaster Kevin are you okay?"
"Yeah yeah, just a umm how should I call this, a dream maybe" I lied. It seemed that it was not a dream. It's like a vision?
"We're here"
"Yeah thanks so much. See you tomorrow"
I quickly left the car and kissed my mom in the cheek and hurriedly went to my room upstairs.
I took a quick shower. I can feel the water running through my body. Then I remembered that dream.
"What exactly was that?"
