Background: John works with Mycroft in London to solve mysteries and Sherlock is in America trying to make a breakthrough in a case. John and Sherlock haven't met (until now)

It was the first time that John had ever gone to Vegas. He had been to a casino before but never in Vegas. After his wife had passed away, he decided to treat himself to a weekend away filled with gambling and drinking. He made a promise to himself that he would not hook up with any girls. Although his wife had passed away months ago, it still felt like it was just yesterday. It was too soon to start seeing someone let alone having one night stands: something he hadn't done since he was right out of college.

The flight there was a breeze. He was coming in from New York where he had a connecting flight to Vegas. He had been to America before for conferences and conventions and he had gambled there with Mycroft a few times. Of course, Mycroft knew everything about the cards and they had been kicked out numerous times for counting cards. Whenever they weren't getting thrown out of the casino, it was a fun time. This would be one of the first times in a while that John wasn't gambling with Mycroft. He claimed that he didn't want to go to America for no good reason.

When John arrived at the casino, he checked in to the hotel and brought his bags up to his room. It was a simple room with one bed, a tv, a desk, and a minibar. All of which he would be using many times throughout the weekend. He checked his watch: 4:45. John decided to watch some tv before heading down to the casino since he was going to have a long night ahead of him.

John set an alarm to go off at 5:15 and when it did, he took a shower and put on his black polo shirt with jeans and sneakers. He took $50 from his wallet and made his way downstairs to the casino. The whole place was pretty crowded and there were occasional cheers of people winning as well as people groaning with their losses. John decided to start out with BlackJack, one of his favorite games. He joined the table and the dealer dealt him a 5 of diamonds.

"Hit me," John said confidently. A queen of hearts: 17. John bit his lip and hesitated, "Hit me?" He wasn't too confident this time. The next card was a 4 of diamonds! The three other guys at the table cheered for him and begged him to play another hand.

John stayed at blackjack for a few more rounds and won over $100 in chips. He looked around the casino and his eyes locked on this one dealer. He had black, curly hair was tall and lean. John couldn't tell what game he was doing but he decided to join, he didn't know why. When he took a seat at the table the dealer made eye contact with him and smiled. For some reason John's heart skipped a beat.

"Texas hold 'em." The dealer fixed John's confused look.

"Deal me in." John smiled. He was dealt with a full house queens and kings. He tried his best not to grin. This is why he needed Mycroft.

The whole time John couldn't get enough of the dealer. Why was this? He looked at the nametag: Sherlock. He recognized the name but he couldn't remember why. John was straight, why was he getting this anxious around a guy? He wasn't intimidated by him...

"I'm off my shift," Sherlock said to the whole table but directed it towards John who blushed. "A new dealer will be here in a few minutes." He slowly walked away and John got off of his chair and followed him. Why was he doing this??

"Hi, um, I'm John." He stopped Sherlock in his tracks and held out his hand. Sherlock smiled and shook it.

"I know," Sherlock said quickly. "You work with my brother, don't you?" John took a sigh of relief, that's where he heard Sherlock's name. Mycroft has told him a few times about his brother who lives and works in America. The poor guy.

"Yeah, yeah I do." The two of them stood there for what seemed like forever, smiling at each other. "I, uh, I'm not sure as to why I'm asking you this... But, uh..." John was at a loss for words, "Do you wanna maybe come to my hotel room?" He laughed, embarrassed at his own question. Sherlock just smiled,

"I would love to."
