So I realized that the chapter before this was named as Chapter 4 when it was actually Chapter 3. For some reason, Wattpad won't let me change it so bear with me as you see Chapter 4 twice. Hopefully I can fix it. Well, hope you like this next section. Also, I'm editing the story to make it in the third person. Happy reading!
Cecile POV:
He was gone. In his place was a withered old man, who was staring at her in a way that made her squirm. How long had I been asleep?
"Um...where's Jaxon." The old man shook his head and smiled.
"He'll be back."
Questions sprouted in her mind and pushed at her lips. But some part of her didn't want to ask the old man questions. If only for fear that he would think them stupid.
"Don't you want to ask anything?" his voice was knowing, and he looked at her patiently. She blushed and nodded. He leaned back in his chair and placed his hands on his stomach. She wanted to smile, he sat in a way she imagined her grandfather would have sat. If she had one.
"What did he mean by gifts?"
"Seven lines. Seven gifts. Smarts. Speed. Strength. Sight. Flight. Telepathy."
"But that's only six."
"Ah, good at math too." She smiled as he laughed at his own joke. "Yes. The last line, I'm afraid is no more. Healers." His laughing eyes were suddenly filled with remorse. And though she wanted to ask further, she knew she shouldn't pry. She had learned her lesson about poking around people's pasts. So instead she smiled, hoping to bring the laughter back into his eyes.
"And what about Jaxon?" He was probably in the asshole bloodline. That would be her first guess. But sadly, such a thing didn't exist.
"He's telepathic."
She opened her mouth to ask something more when the curtain parted and Jaxon stormed again. Annoyance etched into his features. But then again, he always looked annoyed. His eyebrows raised in surprise as he saw the old man.
"Gramps? What are you doing here," he combed his hand through his hair. The old men gave him a playful glare.
"Answer questions you should've already answered." Jaxon blanched and she smuggled a laugh. He shot her a dirty look and she shrugged. "Now, I need to sleep. You show her around."
"I wasn't sleeping!" The old man laughed as he wheeled out of her section and she couldn't help but chuckle. He scowled as he faced her. She slipped out of bed again, realizing the IV was no longer in her and her feet held her weight.
"Well, I think our first stop should be new clothes."
Jaxon POV
He wasn't sure what annoyed him more. The fact that she would be able to hear him if he yelled at her in his mind or that he had to be her tour guide. Probably the second one, probably because of the fact that she wouldn't stop stopping. Every shop window, every person was something new.
He tapped his foot impatiently as she stared at an Aspectu. A young woman who was doing future telling for money. He never understood why people would use their gifts for street antics. Some even went to the extent of retiring to the human world where their gifts made them rich and popular.
She ran forward like a child and sat in front of the woman. He followed reluctantly standing behind the wooden chair. The woman looked up at him and smiled flirtatiously.
"Well, Jaxon, I didn't think you were one for future tellings." Cecile looked up at him snickering as she looked in between the both of them. He rolled his eyes, his scowl deepening.
