Preface

Her big dark brown eyes widened with fascination as she saw the train puff its smoke as it came to a stop. The train was one of the most astonishing things she had seen in her life. The colors were bright and brilliant. "Wow." She managed to whisper out.

She looked around at all the bustling people. Returning students and new students all hugging and kissing their families goodbye for a new year. One person in particular caught her eye, he was a bright blonde boy and he was looking back at her with his silver eyes. Their gaze was broken when her mother touched her shoulder and spoke. "Elise, dear, get your things together."

"Mother," she turns to look up at her mother, whom was a pureblood, "what if I get put into the wrong House?" She frowns.

"The Sorting Hat is quite aware of who gets placed where, dear. No matter where you get placed, your father and I will be proud of you." Her mother reassures her.

"I wish Father could be here." Elise shakes her head.

"He does too. But you know how he must be at Hogwarts early. Keep in touch with me with letters, please. You better get going, I love you." She sends her daughter off with well wishes and looks at the train with some hesitancy. She remembers when it was her getting on that train to attend school. Hogwarts was filled with terrible memories for her, however, she hoped her daughter would have a better experience. Elise gave her Mother one last hug and carried her trunk and bag to the train and disappeared from her mother's sight.

Elise walks down the aisle and peeks into each compartment, awaiting an empty one. When she was about to give up on finding an empty one, the boy with the silver eyes and blonde hair opened up the door to one. He gave the beautiful girl a smile. "Hi, I'm Draco Malfoy. And you might be?"

"Elise Snape. Nice to meet you." She gave a small smile back, as the boy's eyes widened. "Something the matter?" Her smile drops as she notices he seemed uncomfortable.

"Nothing. Won't you sit with me?" Draco shakes his head, ridding of the thoughts of Severus Snape's daughter being in front of him. "Is this your first year?" He asks as she sits across from him.

Elise nods her head. "My father is the Potions professor at Hogwarts, so I might be a little more advanced than most are. Is this your first year as well?"

Draco nods to answer her question. "Are you a pureblood?" The question that was most important to Draco when coming to making friends.

"Yes." Elise says proudly. "However, my parents are not together. I do not get to see my father very often, but when I do, he always is teaching me something new and valuable." She felt a pain twitch in her heart. She wished so deeply she could spend more time with her father but she knew information that most people were not aware of. Voldemort was very much alive, and her father was one of his followers. She was aware how badly her mother disapproved of this and she knew she was not allowed to tell anyone. Inside, Elise knew she wanted to become just like her father.

Draco smiles at her and there is a small twinkle in his eyes. "I don't think they should allow the other kind to attend Hogwarts with us pureblood."

"Oh, I quite do agree."

Elise and Draco talked the entire train ride to Hogwarts. When they arrived, they had a special bond formed between the two of them. When they exited the train, they stayed side by side the entire time. They heard 'first years!' being called out and over towards the lake where all the boats were lined up and ready to go. Draco, Elise, and a few other kids got into one of the boats.

"So I heard Harry Potter was attending Hogwarts this year." Draco said to the students in their boat. A few of them snickered. Elise rolled her eyes. She had heard all about this Potter kid through her father. How he survived the killing curse is a true mystery. She had no intentions of ever speaking with him unless The Dark Lord gave her a task.
