"LUC~Y! LUCY WAKE UP!" A loud voice rumbled in excitement, jolting me awake with a full scale heart attack.
"Ah- Wait- whuh--??" I grasped, looking around me in alarm. The five dragon riders including our dragons were stationed inside a warm and cozy cave, and my heater was standing right in front of me with his dragon features carved into an delighted grin. Waking up to a giant lizard screaming in my face definitely wasn't on my agenda for today, especially if said lizard was pink in color and was acting like an overjoyed dog who heard their owner slip the C word: Cookie.
Natsu dropped to his gut with his tail wagging so hard I was almost surprised it didn't detach from his rear. "It's snowing, Luigi! It's snowing it's snowing it's snowing IT'S SNOWING!" he roared, skipping around in circles. Gray was suddenly there and the dark blue dragon bit at Natsu's neck.
"Quit acting like an idiot, pyro! We see snow every winter," Gray growled, and Natsu whirled on him with a hiss.
"Shut up, frosty!" Natsu protested then his lips tilted up into an idiotic grin. "Besides, this is the first winter we've all had together!"
Mavis, Juvia, Jellal and Levy skipped around the argument and stood besides me, and we watched in practical amusement as Gray and Natsu began fighting. Erza stepped in to stop the fight but when the two dragons slashed at her, it became an all out war, with Natsu and Gray losing terribly. Gajeel sniggered then hopped into the fray while Zeref just stood back, watching in amazement.
"How... did all of this even start?" he muttered, and I just shook my head at him. These fights between these four dragons can start with literally nothing, all it really takes is a bad look or something "unfair" then suddenly WWIII breaks out.
"We should go out to town today!" Levy proposed, and the fighting stopped abruptly as everyone turned their attention to the small blue haired girl.
"Why?" Mavis asked her.
"Well, we've got some gold to spare and we need supplies. Not only that but it's also Christmas, so we can spend more time bonding with each other!" I saw her eyes wander over to Gajeel, who looked like he was seriously considering it.
"Do they have cake?" Erza inquired.
"Well, uh, yes but--"
"Alright then it's settled," Erza announced before switching to her human form, "We will all go to town and see what this 'Christmas' is." The other dragons resumed human form, and they crowded around us with excitement.
"Well, as a future king I guess I do have to learn about humanity some more..." Zeref spoke thoughtfully.
"I wonder what the metal they make tastes like," Gajeel chuckled, drooling at the thought.
"Ooo! Food! Do you think they sell fire?" Natsu piped up.
"Normal people don't eat fire, you flaming idiot," Gray growls.
