We were in the same field Dawson showed me the first day I met him, Rose’s garden. It was even more beautiful in my dream. I thought I was dead. Guess this is how heaven is. An eternity with him. Where is he, anyway? If he were here, I would tell him how sorry I was for everything. Getting myself killed because I’m prideful doesn’t mean he deserves to suffer. I’m so stupid.  But it was a sacrifice I had to make. Why couldn’t I have killed her before she bit me? Finally, Dawson appeared, and his hand snaked its way to mine. We laid there in the tiger lilies, staring at the changing colors of the clouds.

Then, the whole thing changed. I was standing in a dark alley. A dirty, dark alley. There was a sketchy figure standing in the shadows.

“Who’s there?” I asked stupidly.

“Is it really you?” A hauntingly beautiful voice asked.

My eyes widened. The figure stepped closer and I could see her clearly.

It was Loretta. She was so beautiful. The true image of a witch. Her white blond hair was cascading down over her shoulders (Did she dye it? She used to have brown, like mine). Her wide hazel eyes had a shimmer of silver in them. She looked almost my age, except she was only thirteen. Wait, that can’t be right. It’s been a couple years since the fire. So, she was fifteen?

“Yeah. Loretta are you okay?” I asked, eyeing the dirty rags that she wore as clothing.

Her eyes started to water and her tiny frame ran at me. She hugged me so tight it was starting to choke me. Her sobs shook my body.

“Liz! I missed you so much!” She cried.

I felt so bad, that I started to cry too. She spent a couple years alone with no one. She must have felt so horrible. I would have died if I was alone for that long.

“This is the worst dream ever,” I said quietly.

She looked up at me startled. Her tear streaked face looked so tortured, but now it was with curiosity and anger mixed in.

“What are you talking about?” She asked.

“This is a dream. It’s not real. I wished it were though,” I repeated.

“This is real. We’re communicating through telepathy.”

“Loretta. If-”

“If?” She interrupted.

“Okay, since this is real, tell me. Where is this place? I can come and rescue you!” I said excited. The plan was already forming in my mind.

I can be reunited with my sister! I mean, my other sister.

She shook her head and said, “This is the Shadow World. We can make it into whatever we want, but it’s not a physical place. I couldn’t tell you where I am, even if I wanted to,” She finished quietly.

“Why not?” I asked, brokenheartedly.

“Because we don’t have enough time. You should wake up in a few minutes. Dawson’s really worried about you, Elizabeth I need to tell you something...”

“You can tell me when we are reunited,” I said confidently.

Pain sliced through my heart like a two-edged sword. I wanted to be with her. I wanted to protect her and keep her safe. She squeezed me with so much force, that I didn’t want to let go.
