“Come on! You can do this,” Haley encouraged.

“Stop it! Your getting annoying,” I said.

“Hey, don’t get angry at me. I’m just trying to help.” She shrugged.

I blew out a sigh. Haley was right, it was a long night. Everything I tried, failed. I couldn’t access my past lives. What if Dawson had gotten out of that spell and is stalking me right now? Even worse, what if he’s stalking Jason right now? I shuddered. I had to hurry; I was running out of time.

“Just close your eyes. Maybe I can hypnotize you,” I could her a hint of a smile in her voice.

“Uh, no thanks. Maybe we’re doing this wrong. We should ask Adelle more about it,” I suggested.

“And wake her up? No. Did you see how her aura was? Very dim. We’ll just have to try to figure it out ourselves, or until she wakes up.”

She had a point, of course.

“Maybe we should take a little rest. It’s been a long time since I last fed.” I suggested.

She sighed in relief. “Yeah, that would be a good idea.”

I was actually full. I only wanted to give her an excuse to leave so that I could try to wake up Adelle. She walked out of the room with a graceful posture. Yet another reminder of what we are. I sighed and looked at Adelle. She lay peacefully on my bed. Her aura wasn’t as dull as before, so I think she was better. I leaned over her and shook her.

“Wake up. We need your help. Adelle,” I repeated.

She stirred.

“Huh? Where am I?” She asked.

“You’re in our hotel room.”

“Where’s Dawson?” She asked with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

“I don’t know.”

She got up in one swift movement. Pretty graceful, for a witch.

“Adelle, we need your help,” I said urgently.

“What is it? What’s going on?”

“Do you know anything of the prophecy about me?”

Her whole body relaxed.

“Oh, that. I thought you meant something important.”

“This is important,” I said harshly.

“I know, but I thought you were talking about Dawson being here or something. The prophecy will keep happening, so it’s not that important.” She shrugged.

“Yeah, it would keep happening. If I were human.”

She stared at me for a long time. Realization finally shown in her eyes.

“Oh, no. No no no no...” She whispered.

“Yes, I’m a vampire. Might as well finish the prophecy, since I’m not coming back.” I shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal.

She sighed. “What do you need to know?”

“I need to know how to access my past lives. So that I can see what I did wrong before.”

Her face seemed to waver. She looked like she was dealing with a hard decision.

“If you start now, it’ll keep coming at unexpected times. It won’t stop. Ever. Unless you stop history from repeating itself, then it’ll stop. Are you sure you want to have that keep happening to you?” Adelle asked, uncertain.
