"Am I a burden?" She finally spoke.
The moment was too fragile for me to say a word.
"I tried my best, I really did." She turned and looked at me. "So why have they left?"
Exactly, why? Why do they pride themselves on being able to hurt someone? Thinking curse words are cool, that forsaking someone showed how strong they are, why?
I couldn't answer her.
Maybe they curse to release their pent up feelings? Maybe they just wanted someone to comfort them and say it'll all be alright? Or maybe they've grown to be a porcupine, always wary and defensive.
Why do they think being 'powerful' meant putting down someone else?
I find that pitiful.
"The more you hope, the more you'd be disappointed, I guess?"
She stared down, looking numb.
"At least I tried my best. Right?"
