Sorth submerged himself in the lake for a long while, chasing fishes just to numb the pain. The water was his comfort zone, his kingdom, his home.

It hasn't been long since he entered the water. His brothers have died unexpectedly, and he was left all alone. The responsibility they once shared, was now all upon him, and it felt suffocating, like the weight of a mountain.

But here, in the water, where there is no gravity, here he was free.
The bell necklace tingled. There was work to be done. Sorth gritted his teeth as he broke through the water surface. There was a cry for help near a water body. Flicking his tail to remove the lingering water droplet, He set out to find the one calling for him.

"When you become a ghost, Miss, don't you come haunt us. We aren't responsible at all. It's all the Lee's. Haunt the Lee's. They want you dead."

Sorth arrived at the scene, but he was too late. The human who called him, her eyes were closed. Her garment was stained blood-red and the red liquid formed a stream, trickling right into his beloved water kingdom, contaminating the clear water body.

" It isn't our fault, Miss. The Lee's forced us. Haunt them instead when you become a ghost, okay? It wasn't our fault." The two quivering man said again and again as they pushed the girl into the river with their bloody hands.

"Our hands..." The fatter man said.

"Don't wash them in this water, it might upset her spirit. Let's go. We've got to run away before her spirit arise." And together, the two murderers fled the scene.

Sorth was beyong livid. No, he wasn't angry because of the deed, he was angry that they dared contaminate his water with human blood. He would definitely seek those murderers out, but before that...

Sorth grimaced at the thought of what he must do, but there was no option. Swooping down, he opened his jaws and gulped the contaminated water, drinking down as much as he could. The acidic metallic taste that he hated. The taste sent shivers down his spine to the top of his tail.

Whilst drinking up the contaminated water, he grab the girl in his jaws as he flew up again. With a jerk, he threw her up in the sky and did a somersault and caught her on his back.

There was a faint lethargic heartbeat on his back. The girl wasn't quite dead yet. There was still hope! Sorth pick up the pace back to his temple.

It was a gruelling week for Sorth as he and his faithful Bamboo spirit nursed the girl back to health. A torturous week indeed, for his other attendant, the Tiger Demon. The stench of blood had the Tiger Demon pacing just outside the door. Sorth couldn't leave he room at all, and he didn't sleep for the whole week, for fear that the Tiger Demon might break their promise.

The girl finally opened her eyes after 8 days and Sorth was electrified by their first eye contact. She was the one.

It can't be, a human? Sorth dropped the glass bowl he was holding. He dreamt of meeting the girl of his life. The one he'd protect forever and ever. And the one for him was this human.

A human whose life is as short as a butterfly. As fleeting as the wind. And what if she dies. He'd have to endure the pain for billions of years to come.

The girl looked around in wonder. "Is... Is anyone there?" Her faint voice called out.

" Master, should we show ourselves?" Bamboo Spirit asked, hovering over her anxiously. "Master? Master!"

Sorth had collapsed on the ground.
The sudden appearance of a huge unconscious dragon made the girl scream as she scrambled to the other side of the room. Her gown was blooming red again by the side due to the wounds.

" Master... Oh what am I supposed to do!!! Tiger Demon!" Bamboo Spirit freaked out.

Tiger Demon huffed at the scene. A live screaming prey won't be as delicious as an unconscious one. With a turn, he vanished into thin air to fetch a healer for Sorth.

The girl didn't know what to do. The door out was blocked by an enormous wing. She couldn't escape.

There was no such thing as Dragon, is there? But there was one right here, an unconscious one, in fact... The girl bravely crawled forward cautiously and she held out a trembling hand. Inch by inch she got closer, until she touched the tip of the soft whiskers. No response.

Bamboo Spirit was beside himself as he watched the darn girl molest his master. But he couldn't materialise and whack her away from his master, he didn't receive permission for that. And when the girl traveled down the spine of his Master, Bamboo Spirit blew up. Hack the rules. He won't let a random girl continue molesting his Master anymore.

Bamboo Spirit raised his arm and the flowers in the nearby garden poised themselves. With a flick, the stems of flowers zoomed straight for the girl.

Tiger Demon smashed the flowers before they reached the target. "I don't want to be tortured by the smell of blood anymore, Bamboo. Any more temptations and I won't hesitate to go vegetarian."

"It can't be helped for her, Bamboo. She is his other half after all. Their souls call out to each other." An old woman smiled at the scene.

" Grandma!" Bamboo immediately ran over, elated. "That doesn't mean she can molest Master."

"And if you meet another beautiful kitten what would you do." Grandma whirled her eyebrow.

"Well...that's different, it's a cat!" Bamboo Spirit squirmed.

"Of course it's a cat, you cat molester." Tiger Demon smirked.
