Walls

I built so many walls,

They stand so tall they bump the stars.

They keep me safe,

Make sure I don't hurt anyone with this awful terrible thing inside.

Not even I know what this Beast is.

But the walls contain it.

Contain my heart.

But I give him a ladder.

Always.

Him.

An angel who's feet never really touched the Earth.

Something made of mist and wishes.

I gave him a ladder anyway.

I let him know more,

Do more.

He made me believe things.

I felt truly beautiful and important for the first time.

How do you fill a hole like that?

Maybe you don't.

I certainly can't.

Everyone is going,

All going East.

Why can't I go?!

Sigh.

Patience...with eye-rolling.

A dusty ladder sits in the corner,

Waiting.

Like me.
