"Ugggghhh Livana, he was totally flirting with you!" Lydia fumbled with the seatbelt, struggling to fit it properly into the silver buckle.
"Was not!"
I reached over to help her, the metal landing with a 'click,' and securing itself around her tiny waist. "He wasn't talking about me when he said...." I fidgeted with the ends of my hair, embarrassed to say it. "...that last part."
He couldn't have been...
She scoffed loudly, punching me in the arm. "Then who else could it have been, dumbo!"
I groaned, shoving her back. Lyd, you could be such a pain in the ass... "I don't knoww!"
Across the aisle, a rather annoyed-looking man gave us a stern look as he hoisted his black duffle bag into the overhead compartment. Huffing and puffing, he gave the butt of it a final shove, and the lady next to us ducked as he swung the door three quarters of the way shut, struggling to close it that last inch...whoops.
The bag came tumbling to the floor with a clatter, and we both turned to face each other, giggling. Lydia burst into a snort, covering her mouth in embarrassment, and I smiled. Even though she could be annoying at times...I was glad to see my lil sis happy.
.......
As a spur of the moment decision, Logan decided to get us tickets to Tokyo for New Year's, and even though we had been on a plane before, we were anxious as hell. Neither of us had ever left the country, and to think—this place was so far away...it would be New Year's several hours ahead of Los Angeles. Insane.
Lydia batted my arm again. "I've never seen him that weird around a girl," she rolled her eyes. "I'm telling you, Liv, he was into you."
"Not true..."
She whipped her hair around, narrowing her big brown eyes.
"But I mean, you're not like, into him, right?" She chuckled uneasily. "Cause that would be so weird for me."
I turned away, trying to hide the disappointment in my face.
"N-no, course not."
I turned back around, trying to think of something to say, but was interrupted by a female flight attendant, coming by with drinks.
Lydia immediately sat up in her seat, ordering herself a champagne on ice.
The lady turned towards me with a smile, but I shook my head, declining my offer for a drink. "No thanks."
Lydia turned towards me, shocked. "Really?"
"I'm nervous," I admitted, "to see him again." I stuttered quickly, "I-I mean, and Japan too, of course."
Lydia shook her head with a groan, closing her eyes. "I, for one, need a break from that idiot." I laughed out loud as she tipped back her head, taking a large swig from the crystal glass.
Woah, had she become a lot more experienced with drinking...
"You mean the one who bought us tickets to Japan!!"
She smiled against the headrest. "Fine...half-idiot."
****
"Fuuhhck! You made it just in time!!"
The man of the hour raced up to meet us, snaking his body through throngs of drunk, excited teenagers. He already looked buzzed, body swaying lazily to the side as he stumbled up, inches from our feet.
Uh oh.
We had barely made it off the flight, through customs, baggage claim, and into the taxi, arriving at the club address Logan had texted Lydia. The entire ride over, Lydia was ecstatic, face plastered against the window, but as for me...I could barely take anything in, too nervous about meeting Logan.
And now, seeing him in the flesh, again, I barely had time to take in how, well...hot he looked—dirty-blonde curls perfectly swooped around his forehead, clear, gold-rimmed glasses glinting against the flashing lights...it was too much. He dragged us both by the arms, whooping.
"Countdown's just 'bout to start!"
He hurriedly led us onto the stage, halting right next to the DJ, who pulled out the microphone, shouting to the crowd, "WHOOOOS REEAADDDYYY!"
Logan shrieked, twisting his neck side to side, looking hurriedly across the room. "Damn, I gotta have some girl to kiss!"
The crowd chanted as the countdown began...
"5!"
I watched as he yelled to a blonde girl with a diamond tiara. "Are you down to kiss me?"
The lights flashed red-blue-green, sweeping across the floor in horizontal planes.
"4!"
She must have said no, because Logan took a long swig of the nearest drink handed to him, a tall, clear bottle that looked to be some kind of hard alcohol.
"3!"
"Fuck!"
"2!"
The roar of the crowd became amplified, people cheering in exhalation, eager for the moment the clock would hit...
"1!"
Logan widened his eyes, staring straight at me. Before I knew it, he grabbed my face between both his hands, inching closer, closer....
Holy...
The roar of the crowd turned to hushed whispers as he crashed his lips against mine. The flashing lights became skips of my heart, abuzz as he pulled me closer, lips fighting to stay on top of my own while bumped by several bodies. I threw my arms around his neck, kissing him back, only stopping when I ran out of air...We pulled back, both looking at each other with wide eyes, Logan giving me a half-grin...
Lydia threw her hand over her mouth in shock, beside me. "What the f---"
The DJ shouted from above, but I couldn't make out the words, too distracted by the blue lightning blonde boy beside me.
"...Happy New Year," he breathed, blue eyes the brightest beam of light in the entire club.
