I waited on my front porch for Matty, he'd be picking me up to watch him and the guys rehearse for the second time. I was fairly excited, I loved the way they sounded and played, and hopefully this time it wouldn't pour down raining again. I was glad my dad wasn't home, that way he wouldn't see who was driving up to our house.

Finally the silver car came up the road, I stood up as it was familiar to my eye. He honked, seeing me. I locked up the door and grabbed my purse from the ground. Then walked up to the car, getting in.

As soon as I'd sat down, he pressed his lips against my cheek gently. I looked at him out of the corner of my eye.

"Uh...hey." I smiled, putting my seat belt on.

He smiled back, "hey."

He drove straight, his eyes fixed on the road.

"I hope I didn't call you at short notice." He looked over at me, his eyes trailing down to my outfit, "you're not in pajamas this time so I'm guessing not." He laughed softly.

I was stunned. Stunned at the fact that he'd kissed me on the cheek as if it were normal and didn't even talk about it. Was it...okay, since we had kissed on the lips before?

"No, not at all." I said, letting it go and looking out of the window. I felt like we were together, an item, a couple.

"Good. You can turn on the radio or something if you'd like." He smiled, "what kind of music do you like, anyway?" He asked.

He seemed a lot more nicer today, than any other days I'd seen him. I smiled and thought for a moment, "anything old." I played around with the buttons on the dash, going through station after station, skipping up a familiar song, "ooh!" I turned it back.

It was Hello It's Me by Todd Rundgren.

He raised an eyebrow, making a smooth turn, "never heard it before. But it sounds alright." He grooved a long to the beat playfully, bobbing his head back and forth. I could tell he wasn't completely enjoying the song, but the effort I saw created a smile across my face, grooving along with him.

He looked at me and laughed, I laughed too. I loved the way his eyes went so beady when he laughed that they almost closed. He unrolled the windows, my hair blew crazily with the wind. He laughed even harder as I tried to tame it.

"I'm so sorry!" He rolled the windows up again as I held onto my head.

Why couldn't my hair just flow in the wind nicely like the girls on the music videos and TV? Nothing happened nicely for me...but it was okay. It was okay, in the company of Matty.

I usually would be embarrassed for anyone to see me battling with my hair this way, but just because he laughed it somehow became funny to me, also.

George plopped down on the couch beside me, smiling. I looked at him and smiled slightly, then looked back at the television. I had no idea what I was watching, but if I'd pretend my focus was taken, it would allow me to not have the responsibility of responding.

"Do you play any instruments?" Ross asked from the opposite couch. I could tell it was just his way of making small talk since we didn't talk much.

"No, not really." I shook my head shyly.

"Not really? Either you do or you don't." Matty laughed, coming from the back rooms. His button down shirt wide open, and his hair even more a mess than it was before.

"I don't." I said, why did he have to embarrass me that way? I watched them as they got their instruments together. They rehearsed inside rather than the usual garage today.

"She's a different kind of artist." George smiled, I could tell he was high. "She draws." He put his arm around me on the couch.

What's today, awkward day? I moved my shoulder a bit, feeling wrong to have his arm around me in front of everyone...oh well...it was just an arm, right?

I could see Matty's eyes trailing right to it.

He ignored mentioning it and grabbed his guitar. This made me feel worse. They all got up and grabbed their instruments also. I sighed slightly of relief to have George's arms away from me as he'd risen.

For every moment today he wanted to sit by me, or talk to me, or talk about me. I didn't know if it had anything to do with him being high, or if he just genuinely liked making everything all about me.

"Hey why don't we let Katie play with us today, maybe she can learn to play an instrument." George said.

I shook my head quickly, "no, no it's fine. I don't wanna--"

"Yeah, you should." Ross nodded.

I looked at Matty and Adam. They looked at one another.

"No." I said, continuing to shake my head. George was bugging my last nerve now...and then it hit me, did he possibly like me?

"Ahh, fine." He shrugged, grabbing his sticks.
