I could see the orange hue through my eyelids as the sun shined in. I opened my eyes, tiredly, rubbing them for the comfort of my vision. From the window, I could see it was a nice day for once. I could even hear a few birds, they weren't hiding away, as they usually would be when they could sense the rain was near.
I looked down, seeing Matty's arm laying peacefully around my waist. My eyes widened, I looked around, remembering the prior night. I slept so well that I almost forgot, then the pain I felt eased its way back, and I couldn't forget.
Everyone always said their first time didn't hurt...and although that was true in the moment of it happening, I felt it now. Sore. Even at the back of my thighs...
I couldn't believe I was awake before him. I had no idea what time it was, or if my dad had tried to call me at all. My phone was still dead, and I had no idea where Matty's disappeared to after the chaos of lastnight.
I smiled slightly, taking his hand and lacing my fingers with his. He didn't budge at all, I turned around to see him, then turned back around.
I continuously replayed the night in my mind, the good, and the bad. How Matty had told me he wanted to be with me, and how it was pretty much official between us...I thought about Zoe, and wondered where she left to without me and if she was okay, and part of me was angry with her, for ditching me in the first place.
Matty's hand accepted mine, lacing his fingers with mine also. I turned around again, "hey," I said with a smile. He stretched his other arm and yawned, looking up at the ceiling before finally saying something back.
"Goodmorning." He smiled and leaned over to kiss my cheek.
I prayed he wouldn't comment on lastnight. I didn't know if I was wonderful or terrible in bed...which wasn't fair because I had no one to compare his performance to if I were terrible to him.
"I need to go home." I said, turning around to face him.
"Now?" He asked, I could sense he didn't want me to go.
I nodded, "I bet my dad's worried about me, I told him I'd be back last night." I said.
He nodded, playing around with my hair, "would your dad be mad if he knew you were here?"
I nodded again, quickly, of course.
"Okay well, Im gonna need my shirt back." He said.
I looked down, forgetting I’d slept in one of long black shirts.
"Oh yeah of course."
He laughed, "I need to do laundry, its the only clean shirt I have left." He explained, "otherwise...I wouldn't care."
I laughed at his over explaining, he was evidently still tired.
"Do you want to eat at least before you go?" He asked.
I knew I could eat at home, but I wanted to stay, just a little longer.
I nodded, fixing his hair slightly. He got up and grabbed his big fuzzy coat, wrapping it around himself over his bare back and grabbing a pair of socks.
I peaked into the mirror near the door and pulled my hair into a ponytail, following him out to the kitchen, seeing George at the table eating cereal.
I smiled awkwardly, not expecting him as he clearly wasn't expecting me either.
"Katie..." He said with surprise, then his eyes trailed down to the oversized shirt I wore, which he recognized as Matty's.
Matty grabbed two more bowls from the shelf along with spoons from the drawer, setting them on the table. I pulled out a chair, sitting down.
"Hi," I said, a little embarrassed. It was the first time he'd seen me since all the mess with Matty and Elaine and I was coming out of Matty's bedroom in his t-shirt. With no explaining, it probably looked ridiculous.
Matty took a seat and poured a bowl of cereal and handed it to me. I looked down at it, finally having someplace to focus my eye other than George or Matty.
"So...uh, what's up?" George asked, he had a smirk on his face. I didn't like it. Matty laughed, so did George. I didn't understand.
"Shut up, don't even say it." Matty said, passing me the milk. I looked at it, seeing it was regular. I hated milk.
"I'll eat it dry." I said. They both looked at me as if I was out of my mind, "what?"
"You're going to eat that entire bowl dry?" Matty asked.
I nodded, slowly. They both continued to their own bowls, I grabbed a bit of cereal with my hand, laughing a bit.
"What so funny?" Matty asked.
"This is awkward."
"I agree it is." George quickly added, "did you spend the night here?" He asked.
"Kind of," I looked at Matty as he fixed his mouth to correct me, "I did." I said.
"Cool, so you two are like, together or just fucking?" George continued.
My jaw dropped slightly, so did Matty's, "George,"
George got up from his seat, taking his bowl and basically dropping it into the sink, a loud sound of the dish hitting others at the bottom clinged. We both watched him as he went to his bedroom, slamming the door. I looked at Matty, unsure of how to react.
