Everything was just how I imagined...terrible. The music was loud, the most piercing sound of screamo shot through my ears. There were people everywhere...and plastic red cups all over the place...I guessed everyone was too wasted to make it all the way to the trash. Zoe grabbed a cup off the table, I slapped it out of her hand, petrified.

It spilled everywhere, and smelled ghastly. Luckily she jumped back so none of it hit her. Though she caused me to fall back slightly into some guy behind me's arms. I turned around quickly, "sorry."

"Why'd you do that?!" Zoe turned around.

"You don't just grab cups off the table there could be drugs in them."

"That's the point." She said, holding her hands out.

She does drugs? Real ones?

"Jesse!" She smiled widely at the guy behind me, I barely even realized it was his arms I'd fallen into."

"Hey Zoe. You didn't introduce me to your friend." He smiled. He looked like a jock, a very good looking one. He was tan, with dark hair and brown eyes, with dimples to kill.

"Oh! Jesse, Katie. Katie, Jesse." She stepped between us.

I waved, looking away from his eyes and instead to the top of his forehead so it wouldn't feel too awkward.

"Wanna come with us?" He asked, pointing to a group of guys behind him. They weren't all as good looking at he was, in fact they looked like thugs.

Zoe shrugged, "sure I guess, but we're not paying you gas." She crossed her arms.

What? I didn't say anything, I knew she was probably tired of me nagging all night and we'd only just gotten there.

"Alright, you don't have to." He laughed, he kept looking at me, making me feel uncomfortable. I didn't look better than Zoe it all, so I didn't see why his eyes weren't fixed on her instead.

"I tell you what, don't take me home until I'm drunk." She winked, grabbing another cup from the table and sipping it.

I sighed, "Zoe I'm going to find a restroom."

"Alright." She said, the cup still in her mouth.

Come with me you dumb ass," I sighed, glaring at her.

She finally got the hint and sighed, "Jesse we'll be back."

He nodded and went over to his group of friends.

"You couldn't wait to use the bathroom?! That's Jesse!" She shouted over the music.

I rolled my eyes, "I don't care!" I walked up the stairs with her following behind me, pushing my way past the people hanging out on them. I opened the first door I saw, turning on the light and pulling her in with me.

"Katie what are--"

"I don't have to pee." I said quickly, "you do drugs?!" I asked.

"Only at parties." She said back.

"Katie why didn't you tell me? I don't want to be with you while you're on drugs, drunk I can handle but on--"

"Don't say drugs again!" She snapped, pulling back the bath curtain to make sure no one was behind it.

"Even though you say it's just at parties you could get addicted."

"What are you, my mom?" She teased, laughing.

I wanted to tell her off. I wanted to punch the idiot. I cared about her safety and her life and she didn't even care about her own?

"I wanna go home." I said.

"No, uh uh, we're not going through this, you promised--"

"I don't wanna be stuck here with you while you're like this!" I shouted, aiming for the door. She ran in front of it, blocking it.

"How are you gonna get home?! Okay, we're going with Jesse--"

"I'll call a cab." I shrugged.

"And be out this time of night by yourself?" She said. I could see she was really concerned, I felt guilty. How could I leave her and not think about the danger she could be in...anyone could take advantage of a drunk girl, especially with pink hair they'd probably think she was a prostitute

"Fine I'll stay."

She turned to the mirror, rubbing what had smudged of her eyeliner from the bottom of her eye. I looked at my reflection, asking myself if I needed to do the same. I was fine.

She opened the door, walking back downstairs. I looked around at all of the people. They looked like animals. Laughing and yelling over music to hear one another. It was all the reminder that I hated people. I started to wonder why I couldn't lead anyone. I was always following someone's path that I didn't want to be in. Like now, in Zoe's.

I looked around for any sign of water as my throat went dry. All that was around were cans of beer. I sighed, wishing that just in that moment that I did drink so that I could quench my thirst. Zoe found Jesse, I followed her up to him. As I looked around the distances while she talked to him, I spotted someone I couldn't keep my eyes off of.

There was something about his back that I found interesting. He had dark hair, and a leather jacket. It almost reminded me of Matty. But everything at the moment reminded me of Matty...the party alone, the from the smell of alcohol, to the smell of cigarettes in the air.

He finally turned around, he looked like Matty...but he wore glasses. Matty never wore his glasses, it definitely wasn't him.

I quickly turned my attention back to Zoe and Jesse, who was laughing and smiling like crazy. I don't know what Zoe's trick was, but she was one smooth chick around guys. I wished I could be like her, I envied her for it. I looked back over to the guy who reminded me of Matty, he was sitting and listening to two men and a woman in front of him, I couldn't make out what they were talking about over the noise, but it looked to be a good topic, for each person was so drawn in that you'd swear they were having a conversation with one of the Gods above.

His attention was finally lost as he looked around, he looked in my direction, his eyes falling on mine...my heart almost stopped...then ached...it was Matty.
