No one has the right to hurt Devin, especially if love is involved.
I clenched my teeth, as the brunette timidly led me into his room. I was actually surprised he agreed, but at the same time, I was extremely excited and pleased with his decision. We walked inside his room and I quietly gasped. It was … the most tidy room I’ve ever seen in my entire life. It had a small, vintage bookshelf and smelled so fresh, compared to mine. A guy would think that this room belongs to a girl!
“It’s on the bed.” Devin’s voice made me snap out of it and I quickly nodded, sitting on the bed, in front of the laptop. I quickly opened it and waited for the boy to tell me his password.
“Apple juice, no space, no capital letters. I’ll change the password when you’re done, so don’t think about hacking my account.” He frowned and sat next to me, watching my progress. I absent-mindedly nodded and typed the password in his laptop, feeling my heartbeat accelerate. I have to admit, being so ballsy on the internet was easy, but if the guy really was the kind of a douche Devin described, then I might be in trouble more than him.
Not that I mind.
To my surprise, his Flex was open, and I could see all his contacts, which were zero. There was only one guy, and he had a nickname ‘Idiot’. You know, you have an option to change your contacts’ names. Yeah, Devin changed it to that. I suppose, if he had other contacts, he would change them to something similar. Or maybe all of them would be like ‘Idiot 1’, ‘Idiot 2’, ‘Idiot 3’, etc …
“Okay, now let me see that bastard’s Flex, so I can bully him on my laptop.” I mumbled. Devin sighed behind me. I suppose he’s still hesitating whether or not to let me punish his crush, but his decision had already been made. I clicked on the guy’s profile and felt my skin shiver when I saw that his avatar was … the same as mine.
“That’s odd …”
“What is?” Devin asked, gently embracing my shoulders to lift himself and look. His hands felt so incredibly cold and small, and I found myself gulping quietly. His voice was … mesmerizing. Both gentle and cold. In fact, there was a certain grace in this boy that seemed to make me want him more and more. I don’t care if it’s gay or not. Besides, he already confessed he was homosexual. As for me, I have no idea what I am. All I know is that I want his hands on my shoulders 24/7.
“His profile picture is the same as mine.”
“Coincidence. It happens.” His hot breath tickled on the back of my neck and I felt the sudden urge to jump him. God stop me …
“Hey, what do you like about that guy, anyway? He has the same avatar as me, but that’s all. If it’s about the avatar, why don’t you like me, too?” I suggested, feeling like I’m stepping on a mine field. I was just trying out the waters, but it felt like I had just proposed to him and I was about to get smacked in the face. Hell, I couldn’t even turn around to face him now. I bet if I did, he would bite my nose or something.
“Doesn’t concern you. Either take his account name and beat it, or leave right now.”
“Jeez, fine. Whatever.” Best pick-up line ever. Works like a charm. I sighed at my sarcasm and opened the dude’s profile. A quick glance was made, and I almost immediately saw that the name was rather familiar, but when I tried to look at it carefully, the screen suddenly went black.
I swear, if I had any 8hit left inside me, it would’ve warmed up my pants now.
“O-Oh.” I quietly said.
“..Oh? Oh what? Aabel, what the fuск did you do?!” Devin panicked behind me and quickly pushed me away, checking his laptop.
He tried turning it on, but it didn’t work. Despite pushing the button hard, it just wouldn’t work. I saw his eyes water as he did all he could to get the screen lit up, but it was as if the life in the machine had been completely extinguished.
“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!” Devin screamed, turning around to face me. I gulped and mentally prayed to be spared, shaking my head.
“I-I swear to God, I didn’t do anything! I was about to see the nickname and it turned off!”
“It can’t just ‘turn off’ by itself, Aabel. YOU BROKE IT!”
“NO, I DIDN’T!”
“YES, YOU DID!”
“I REALLY DIDN’T, EVEN THOUGH YOU DESERVE IT!” Well, 8hit. That wasn’t supposed to leave my lips.
Devin looked at me with shock, followed by fury, and the next thing I knew, my cheek was burning!
“OUCH! WHY DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!”
“YOU BROKE MY LAPTOP, YOU JЕRК! I HAD ONE THING THAT MADE ME HAPPY, AND YOU RUINED IT!”
“W-why would the laptop make you happy?”
Devin squeezed his knuckles, looking at the mattress. I’ve never seen his head so low before, nor have I seen tears like these. He was crying silently, and I didn’t know what to do …
“It’s not the laptop that made me happy, you dumbаss … it was the guy I spoke to when you and life were being jеrкs …”
I slowly nodded, feeling my heart sink.
“So you really like him?”
“No 8hit.” He muttered, his voice cracking despite how quietly he was talking. I sighed and quickly took his hands, pulling him in for a hug. To my surprise, Devin didn’t resist. He just left himself to be cuddled, crying on my chest as if the world had ended.
“H-Hey, it’s fine … I’ll lend you my laptop, is that alright?”
“Screw you, I don’t need your compassion …”
“But you need him, right? It’s fine, Devin. I promise I’ll fix your laptop, so just use mine for the time being.”
Devin sighed and nodded obediently, something I found a bit too cute. He pushed himself away from my embrace and stood up, trying to avoid eye contact with me. I … suppose he was slightly ashamed of his reaction when the laptop suddenly broke.
“I’ll go and wash myself …” He miserably whispered and left me in his room. I don’t know what I was worried for more, Devin’s tears or his laptop, but I was pretty darn sure I would do my best to fix it, or at least, make the brunette feel slightly better.
After all, Christmas was coming, and miracles tend to happen on that day.
