It was like a breakfast Thanksgiving feast. There were pancakes, sausages, eggs made in any way possible, toast, a jar of homemade Nutella, fish fingers and custard, and six kinds of juice. She smiled. "Oh brother, you didn't have to do all this."

"But I already did, so there's no going back now." He put his last batch of pancakes on the pancake plate and sat down at the table. Ashley grabbed a novel on getting lost in space and sat down at the table. She put on her black reading glasses that she occasionally wears, took a bite of pancake, and began to read.

"So, curiosity killed the cat-" The Doctor started.

"But satisfaction brought it back." She interrupted, turning the page.

"What I'm trying to ask is, what did you see in the core?"

She put a spoonful of Nutella in her mouth, swallowed, and replied, "I saw what I forgot, and almost all of it was horrible. I do not blame myself for forgetting."

"Tell me about what you saw."

She put the book down. "I saw all our enemies. Daleks, cybermen, weeping angels, and all the others. They tortured me, demanding for your name to be told to them. I wouldn't tell them, I knew it was too precious to you. I also saw fantastic companions, all who died or just left me and sometimes even betrayed me. In the end, I never saw them again. Then I forgot, got shot by a dalek, regenerated, and then I found you."

The Doctor sighed and spoke after swallowing a bite of fish custard. "I wish this life was better for you."

"I had my good moments as well. Almost got married, but at least I am here today to talk to you."

"True."

And so, they finished their breakfast and headed over to the console. The Doctor wanted to brighten her day by taking her somewhere splendid. And that's what he would do.
