The store wasn't much to brag about, just a few shelves with mostly candy and soda. I grabbed two candy bars from a random shelf and glanced at the cash register. A boy stood behind the desk. A fox with brown/orange fur and bright eyes in a really deep blue color. But what caught my attention the most was the fact that he had soda-cups on his ears. I approached him and placed the candy bars on the desk. The fox smiled. "Hey, haven't seen you before." He stated. "Actually, I moved in here today. I live almost at the start of town, in a light red house." I smiled. "Nice! I'm Greggory! But you can call me Gregg! I've got cups on my ears!" He said. He had a surprisingly high pitched voice for a boy in our age, cuz as I could tell, he seemed to be as old as me. "I'm January. But most people call me Jannie. I prefer that. And its nice to meet you, Gregg." I replied. "Jannie we should totally be friends, here! Have my phone number!" He handed me a note. "Thanks, I'm glad I've found a nice friend already." I said before I handed him a dollar for the candy bars, waved goodbye and left.

When I only were a few steps away from my house, I noticed a strange shadow on the street. But there wasn't anyone there. When I realzied that the person causing the shadow was up above my head, I glanced up to see a black cat with huge, red eyes. She was sitting on an electric wire and looked down on me. "Hello , what'cha doing up there?" I asked. "Nothing interesting. I just like being up here. You get a great view over town." She spoke with a nasal voice. I nodded, pretending I understood and that it was completely normal. "The name's Mae." She continued. "January. But call me Jannie. I'm new in town." I answered. "Oh so you're my new neighbour! Cool." Mae smiled. "Yea, I guess I'll see you around." I stated. Mae waved as I walked off.

I barely got inside the house before Lola approached me. "Where have you been?" She questioned. "Took a walk to the store. I have something for you." I grinned and handed her one of the candy bars. Her eyes instantly lit up. She ran up to her room again, with the candy bar in a tight grip in her paw. I rolled my eyes and went to my room as well.

I layed in my bed, reading a book, when my phone buzzed. I had gotten a text message. I smiled to myself as I recognized that the message ended with 'Sincerely, Greggory'.

Greggory 😆: Hey Jannie! I just wanted to tell you that there's a party tomorrow night. If you want to you can come along with me and my friends! They'd love to get to know you. Sincerely, Greggory

Jannie ✨: Sure, sounds fun :)

Greggory 😆 : We'll pick you up at 8 tomorrow!

Well, to be honest I didn't know what to think about going to a party with people I barely know in a town I barely know, but since Gregg seemed so friendly and he said his friends wanted to meet me, I decided to go.
