My name is Emily Summers. I am 15 years old and I live in Australia, Sydney with my mother and my 18 year old brother Jacob. My father worked in the army and died when I was really young. Even though I was only 3 years old, I hated seeing him leave and still miss him to this day. Whenever I feel lonely and don't know what to do, I usually visit him in the local cemetery and bring him flowers. He is buried with all the people who died alongside him.
Turning around in my small and empty bedroom, I took a quick glance to my mirror at my reflection. I was pretty small for my age and had a really slim figure. The thing that mostly stood out on me was my long brunette hair that went straight down to the bottom of my spine. From the looks of it, it really needed a brush through it but from all the stress I've had lately I haven't been bothered about my appearance.
The next thing that really stood out on me was my hazel eyes. Hazel eyes was a very rare thing in my family considering both my mother and father had blue eyes. It was something I admired most about myself.
Throwing my trainers inside my suitcase, I zipped it up and dragged it outside our small and old cottage. My mother finally received enough money ever since my father's death to travel to Vancouver, Canada where she has always wanted to live and buy a proper house. Our old house was quite fragile and held too many memories. It was sad leaving it on the other side of the world to start a new life.
Taking one last look at the house, I hauled my suitcase in the back of the taxi and climbed in with my family. This was just the start of my new and improved life.
