Kyosuke, now seventeen, woke up early that Monday morning.
It was the beginning of another school year, Kyosuke's sophomore year at Yoshiba High, and he was excited. He put on his school uniform, went downstairs and joined his sister Hinako for breakfast.
The sixteen-year-old girl now wore a Yoshiba High girls' uniform. She fulfilled her promise of going to the same high school as her brother. The ribbon she wore around her collar was red though, instead of blue like Kyosuke's tie, signifying that she was a year lower than him.
"Morning, Onii-san," she greeted her brother as he knelt at the table with her. "Or should I say Senpai. Tee-hee."
"That uniform fits you perfectly, Hinako," said Kyosuke.
"Thanks," replied Hinako with a sweet smile. "Oh, I'm so excited! I'm finally gonna be a high school student."
Kyosuke chuckled as he chewed a bit of omelet. "Yeah. Great job, Hinako."
"Tee-hee," giggled Hinako, taking a sip of tea.
"Well, we better hurry if we don't want to ba late on the first day," quipped Kyosuke, wolfing down the rest of his breakfast.
"Right!" said Hinako, quickly rising from the table after finishing her tea. "Mom, we're going."
"Okay, kids," called out Matsuko from the kitchen. "You guys have a great time at school."
"Okay, Mom," called out Kyosuke, walking up to the door with Hinako in tow. "Bye."
"Bye, Kyosuke, Hinako," replied their mother, as the two made their way out the house.
Kyosuke and Hinako exited of the gate and closed it behind them. As soon as they got out, they saw Risa there waiting for them.
"Good morning, guys," she greeted the siblings with a sweet smile.
"Good morning, Risa," replied Kyosuke, smiling back.
"Wow, Hinako-chan," said Risa, looking Hinako up and down, "the uniform looks cute on you."
"Tee-hee," gigglied Risa as she proceeded to hug Risa tightly like she usually does. "Thanks, Onee-chan-- er, Risa-senpai. We're finally gonna be schoolmates again."
"Tee-hee," giggled Risa.
Kyosuke looked at the two, smiling modestly.
"Come on, guys," he said, swinging his bag over his shoulder. "We don't wanna be late."
"Right," said Risa.
"Let's go!" said Hinako cheerfully, as the three teenagers walked off to school.
When the three reached the gates of the school, Hinako wondered at the campus. The last time she's been to Yoshiba was when she took the entrance exam last spring break.
"Amazing!" said Hinako, clasping her hands together. "Look at all the students."
"You're gonna like it here, Hinako-chan," put in Risa. "The people here are really nice."
"Cool!" replied Hinako cheerfully. "Oh, this is exciting! Tee-hee!"
"Yo, Kyosuke!" yelled out Takeru from a distance. Beside him, as usual, was Ichiro.
"Hey, guys," called out Kyosuke in reply. Then he turned to Risa and Hinako.
"Okay, I'll see you later. You girls have fun, okay?"
"We will," replied Risa.
"See you later, Onii-san," said Hinako, waving at him as he walked towards the two boys.
