Six To: Save? Or Slay? Book 2 (Finished)

Alex's Shadow

Short chapter. This is where we solve Alex's problem once and for all! ^_^ 

Another day passed, and all was well...Well, for at least part of the day. Alex was gathering everyone up, but he wasn't with Amelia. They all met at his house, and they all were chattering confusingly. 

Alex seem distraught as he scanned everyone. Once he knew they all were there, he took a deep breath and began. "Look, I need your help. I had a strange feeling last night, and I couldn't fall asleep. So I took a walk to the mountains, right? Well when I got there...I could feel this strange power coming from the entrance. I was about to investigate, but I wasn't going to go alone. So, I'm requesting that you all come with me. If you don't mind of course."

Lia nodded and wildly waved her hand in the air. "Oh! Oh! Pick me! Me!"

Erik chuckled. "I'll go too."

Eventually, everyone agreed to go. Alex sighed with relief. "Thanks guys. And don't worry about Amelia, I told her I was busy today. But thank you all so much!"

Roxanne rolled her eyes. "Are you going to keep thanking us? Or are we going to go to the mountains?"

Alex laughed. "Oh yea, right. Let's go."

Alex was right. Roxanne could feel a strong aura coming from the entrance. She looked over at Walter. who looked back and was nodding. Roxanne nodded back and looked at Alex, who was bravely standing there, ready to go in.

But he didn't have to. All of the sudden a black mist suddenly appeared in front of him. Alex gasped and took a step back. Strangely, this black mist suddenly took the form of Alex! His shadow stared at him for a while, until all of the sudden black mist began to cover Alex, and then he was gone, along with his shadow.

Alex didn't know where he was. But all he could see was his shadow who was still standing in front of him.  But the scene around him, was dark. He was surprised that he could see his shadow.

Before Alex could say anything, that Shadow turned into a woman. She was a shadow as well, but he could make out her form and everything.(Pic to right). She gave him a certain look before speaking, "You foolish child of man." She told him with a shake of her head. "You dare to forget Olivia's love for you? You just tossed her to the side!"

Alex took a step toward her. He was angry at her. How could she say that?! "No! You're wrong! I did love Olivia, I really did. But there's a time to stop grieving, and go on living."

The woman laughed. When she had finished, she suddenly pointed to him. "You idiot! But you promised her that you would love no one else! And you obviously broke that promise! How can she forgive you now? Well?"

Alex grunted at her words. This woman was right though, he did promise Olivia that he wouldn't love anyone else...But she was gone now. Doesn't that make a promise end? Alex shook his head to clear those thoughts. "Shut up!" He snapped. "Stop messing with me!" Alex bowed his head and was looking down at his feet. "I did love Olivia, very much. But..." He lifted his head again, and his hands turned into tight fists. "But she's dead. It's not like I can bring her back to life or anything. It's been at least three or four years....It's about time I stop feeling sorry for myself."

The woman growled. "No! You can't do that to Olivia!"

"Olivia understands!" Alex replied quickly. "I don't know who you are, but you need to shut up!" Alex suddenly felt something going on inside of him...When he looked down, he saw that his hands were glowing. Alex smiled, instantly knowing that Olivia was trying to talk to him. Alex closed his eyes, and he suddenly lifted an arm into the air, and the light from his hands made all the darkness and that woman vanish.

When he had opened his eyes again, Alex realized that he was back at the mountains with his friends. They stared back with blank expressions on their faces. Alex chuckled. "I'll explain on the way. I don't feel this aura anymore, so we can go back."

Roxanne lifted an eyebrow at him. "You mean that's it?"

Alex nodded. "I told you, I'll explain on the way back. But I can tell you this now; this woman was trying to put me down. Make me question my decisions. And I'm telling you all this; Don't ever doubt yourself." he began to walk away.

Lia skipped over to him. "Hey! Tell me what happened!"

"Well....After when the darkness, or whatever it was, swallowed me...."

Alex did explain as everyone walked back into town. Alex was feeling happy. He had no doubts that he shouldn't date Amelia. He knew that Olivia wouldn't mind. He could tell...He knew.

"Thank you...Olivia."
