The main character describes themselves in the mirror.

Example:

I look in the mirror to see my long blonde hair falling slightly over my brown eyes. I brush it out of my face, which is dotted with freckles. I'm wearing my favorite blue hoodie with jeans, which I think is quite stylish, even though many of the other people at my school might beg to differ.

Why This is Annoying:

Honestly, this used to be a really creative way of writing the description of a character. But, then everyone started to use it. Now, it's overused. There are millions of other ways to describe a character without using a mirror.

How to Fix It:

Well, there are thousands of ways we can do this. You don't need to use a mirror. Try stating different parts of the appearance at various points in your story, something like:

I brushed my brown hair out of my eyes so I could see the art project I was working on.

This simple addition of 'brown' to the sentence adds a description to the character without using the mirror.  You could also not describe them at all. That leaves it up to the reader's imagination (Anyone else imagine a character completely different from what the author is telling you they look like?). You can also give the reader hints like:

I tried to imitate her by flipping my short blonde hair over my shoulder, making my friends laugh.

There are thousands of options to describe a character!
