The MC is an orphan, and their parents died when they were young. They live with their relatives who are ethier super mean to them, or really kind.
Example:
My mother died when I was born, my father, six months later. I live with my grandparents, who pretty much hate me.
Why this needs to stop/is annoying:
C'mon! Not everyone is Harry Potter here guys! I can't even tell you how much I've seen this. I used to use it, then I stopped, so you can just have their parents be alive!
How to fix it:
JUST KEEP THEM WITH THEIR PARENTS! I just said it.
