Keith always hated those books and movies that told you "true love comes at first sight" or some bull like that.

The only thing that comes across from loving someone too soon was neediness.

Love is a word thrown around too easily, in Keith's opinion.
You have to let love grow-- it's not simply a word to shove in at the end of your first date.

Then again, what did he know about it? It's not as though he had a family to love, or even one to teach him what love was.

So, as he stood at a hotel bar, and a handsome boy in blue came up and told Keith he loved his eyes, poor Kogane was a little conflicted.

Usually he wouldn't even bother with this sort of person, but there was something different about this guy.

"Oh? Yours aren't too bad either" Keith responded, before inwardly cringing at himself for not being more original.

The boy standing opposite him, however, didn't seem to care. In fact, his grin widened as he introduced himself
"The names Lance. Lance McClain" he responded, holding his hand out to shake
"Mind if I buy you a drink?"

Keith took his hand quickly, the contact lasting notably longer then your normal shake
"Sure. I'm Keith.. Kogane." He responded, all the while wondering how he was lucky enough for this beautiful person to have taken interest

"So, mullet, I've noticed your jacket is red" Lance said, before gesturing to his own shirt
"This is blue. Wanna make purple?"

Keith took a moment to process this, but before he could think of anything good to say, he just had to ask "mullet?"

Lance blinked
"Yeah. C'mon man, you look like you time traveled from the eighties or something"

"I just haven't gotten it cut in a while" Keith snapped defensively, running a hand through his hair and suddenly feeling incredibly self conscious.

"No, I like it" Lance said with a laugh
"Now-- about your jacket. I bet it'd look better on my bedroom floor" he said, slipping Keith his room keys and walking away
