Death the Kid's POV
Kira had been back at the Academy for a week and a half now. But I'd spoken not a single word to her, nor did I ever see her. It was almost physically painful knowing the one I loved was underground, in a cell, my father and Tyler being the only two allowed to see her.
I had no idea what they were doing to her, but, when I'd be walking the loud halls of the academy, I always thought I heard her pained screams. But no one else around me seemed to hear them. Or, at least, they didn't seem to care.
I counted on my fingers two months that I'd had no word from Kira or from anyone speaking about her. It was driving me insane. Finally, after another two weeks, my father called Liz, Patty, and I into the Death Room for a meeting.
There, in the all-too-familiar room, I met Black Star, Tsubaki, Maka, Soul, Ryuu, Crona, Ragnorok, and Tyler. Liz and Patty frowned, having thought, just as I had, that this meeting would solely be for us three. Apparantly, we were wrong.
"Kid! How nice to see you!" My father spoke in his usual, cheery tone. I scowled. "It's been two and a half months, father." I ground out angrily. Liz grunted quietly from my right, a signal to calm myself before something went wrong. She was right; this could be about Kira, after all.
My father nodded solemnly. "Yes. I apologize for that. However, I am quite sure all of you will be pleased with what I have to show you." He nodded at the mirror on the back wall, and my mouth opened in shock when I saw who walked through it.
Kira stepped through the mirror, lean and slender, but obviously strong. She looked around at us, and showed no fear whatsoever as she had when we had tracked her at her old house. Gasps left Tsubaki's and Maka's lips, but Black Star, Soul, and I just gaped.
She was lovely. Her hair was snow white, and, instead of the multi-colored streaks, she now had black and red streaks in her hair. Her eyes were her usual platinum, fortunately, but she was wearing a uniform. The same uniform Tyler had on, which I had only barely noticed before now.
I turned on my father in a pit of unknown rage. "What is this? What's going on!" I shouted. Everyone, but my father, Tyler, and Kira, flinched. My father nodded. "Kira has been being trained by myself, Tyler, and a specialist for two and a half months. Today, we wanted to be sure that, with her new powers, she would be able to withstand every elite here," He spoke, "Even a Reaper."
My face flushed with a dark hatred. "Kira won't fight me! She loves me!" I fought. "If you wanted her to fight a Reaper, why not have her fight you? She won't fight me!" Tyler scowled. "You'd be very surprised at what she'll do to any one of you now.
"She won't fight Lord Death because she was trained by him. She is, actually, grateful to him. She won't fight me because I aided her in controlling her Madness.
"Trust me; she's still Kira, which means she will regret hurting any of you. She's still in there. What you're looking at is simply a girl who fled because she feared she would harm those she loved. Now that she knows she won't, she won't flee."
Throughout this lecture, I only saw Kira's eyes grow larger. She interrupted Tyler, taking a single step towards Lord Death. "Lord Death-- You never said anything about fighting them! I-I won't hurt them! I refuse!" She shouted.
A sadness welled over me. My father frowned. "I'm afraid we have no choice. There are only two Reapers in this world, and only one of them is incapable of knowing the amount of power you now possess. We have no choice but to compare your power to Kid's." He explained. "But, before them, we need to see if you're stronger than everyone else."
Kira clenched her jaw. "I'll stop the first time they hit the ground." She growled. Tyler glared. "You'll stop when I tell you to stop." He said.
I blinked, and Kira was gone. I looked around for her, and I saw that she had raised Tyler by the front of his shirt. She ground out, "Don't think that just because you helped me learn to contain my Madness, I won't hurt you physically, mentally, or emotionally." She dropped him, and he barely caught himself on his feet. She turned to my father and said, "I'll stop the first time they hit the ground. Take it," She threatened, "Or leave it."
