Kira's POV

I woke up early the next morning. Arika was asleep beside me, and I didn't want to wake her up.

I pulled a jacket over my shoulders and made my way to the bathroom in our room. I looked pale and my eyes were puffy. I sighed, wet my face, and dried away the cool liquid.

Soul... He hated me now. I bit my lip as I held back a sob. How did I always screw up with the people I cared about? I even messed up with Arika! I hurt her when we'd only just arrived here.

How horrible was I?

I shook myself and left the bathroom, changed clothes, and left the room. I felt numb, and I could feel the Madness buzzing inside my head, could see the three eyes skittering about the edges of my vision.

"Kira? Are you alright?" I looked up and gaped at Trevor. I immediately knelt, my right fist on my left collarbone. "My Lord," I said, fighting to gain my sanity.

If Soul hated me, it wasn't anything new. I could handle this. I had to handle this. Trevor put a hand on on my elbow and helped me stand. I smiled softly at him, and he smiled. Finally, the buzzing was gone, and so were the eyes.

Trevor scanned over me for a moment. "Alright. I have something for you to do." He said. I nodded. "Yes, My Lord?" He blinked, then sighed. "In a month, I'd like you to go spy on the Academy. I want you to get every detail of the place that you can. Bring recruits if you can; I know how persuasive you are. You may take as long as you like!"

This was fantastic! A month would be enough time for Arika and I to map out the entire building! Then, we could bring those maps to back to the Academy! We could defeat them in only a month!

"You aren't worried?" I asked him as we started down the hall to his chambers. "Of course not! You're strong and loyal! I doubt you'll make even a single mistake." I smiled at him. "Thank you, My Lord."

He took me to his chambers and gave me a list of everything he needed details on. "I plan on bombing these areas with Madness-infused bombs." He said, pointing at crucial places like houses and near the Death Room. "These places will be infiltrated with soldiers," He pointed at the entrances and exits of the Academy and my father's lab. I nodded as he explained how specific he needed the details to be, and nodded when he made sure I understood that I would be going only with Arika.

Right after our meeting, breakfast was called. I ate alone with Arika, who looked at me with worry throughout our meal.

"Arika. Join me in a training room?" I asked. She nodded. "Of course. Let's go." I stood, threw away my excess food, put the dishes on the counter, then left through an exit to the right.

I took a moment to decide which training room to take. Eventually, I decided on the room on the very end of the hall, a room no one ever used.

After we stepped inside, I pressed my palm over the doorknob. A black mist seeped from my fingertips and into the knob, stalling it. I tried the knob and nodded in approval when it didn't budge.

"Alright. We're leaving in a month for a mission on the Academy." I said, positioning myself in front of her. Arika looked at me curiously. "We're spying on them, getting details so we can take out the Weapons and Meisters." I explained, throwing various punches at her. She blocked all of them. "Trevor--" I grunted out as I kicked at her, "Gave us the mission."

Arika stopped, and I kicked her square in the chest, sending her flying across the room. She landed on a pile of mats, fortunately for her, and I huffed. "Don't let anything distract you, Arika. You know that." She smiled apologetically at me, and I smiled kindly back at her. She stood and brushed herself off. "What's making you fight so rough today, Kira? It's unlike you."
