NORMANI

Lauren and I sit in the living room with the kids, watching Shrek. We were currently on the part when Donkey, Shrek, and Fiona got away from the dragon and she was looking all sad flapping her wings.

"Shake my head, my sis just wanted her mans. They left her fiddled," I say.

"She got that donkey kong in the end," Lauren mumbles while laughing.

"She did, right?" I high five her while cackling.

"Super smash no bros," She grins.

"Shhh!" Aaliyah says while turning around.

"You guys talk-a too loud!" Amaiyah adds.

"Sorry," I say while I throwing my hands up.

It's been about a week since Lauren came to me with her apology and everything's surprisingly been going great. Smooth sailing for everyone.

"Mani," She says.

"Hmm?" I hum.

"I've been thinking like I told you I would, let's dye my hair."

I run my fingers through her hair, "You sure? You don't have to.

She nods, "I know. I wanna do it, I might like something different."

I smirk, "Okay, let's go."

We stand up off the couch and make our way to the bathroom.

I announce, "We'll be back in a few minutes."

We get to the bathroom and I pull out the box, "This color, right?"

She nods, "Yeah."

We go through the process and everything and once it gets to the point where we just let it sit, we go back into the living room. Elijah looks up and his eyes go wide.

"Why that stuff on your head?" He asks, referring to the foil.

"Woah, are you an alien?" He asks.

"No baby," She laughs.

"It's for hair dye," Aaliyah says to him.

I nod in confirmation and he makes the most confused face. Meanwhile Amaiyah is just deeply into the movie.

When the timer goes off, we go back into the bathroom to finish the process. Once it's all done she looks at me with her eyes squinted.

"How it look?" She asks.

"See for yourself," I say.

"No, I want you to tell me first," She says.

"I like it babe, you look good with it," I smile.

She turns around to the mirror and her eyebrows raise quickly, reaching up to touch it.

"Maybe I do," She says while tossing it around.

"You did something Mani," She grins.

"I did, didn't I?" I gloat.
