My phone buzzed again. I groaned and turned it over so that I was looking at the case. The music blared through the room while the cool breeze filled it with fresh air. I rested back onto my pillows and smiled. There was a loud banging on my door.
"Haydence! Turn that crap down and come downstairs!" Talia shouted. Rolling my eyes I pressed the pause button and opened the door.
"Why do I need to come downstairs Talia?" I waited for her response, but got none. I groaned and hopped down the stairs, stopping in my tracks when I saw Colson standing there. "Col-son?" Talia nodded as she walked out of the kitchen, grabbing her purse and coat.
"Yep, Colson. The same Colson who's been showing up here every morning asking for you to come and talk to him," I crossed my arms over my stomach.
"How did he know where I was staying?" Talia shrugged and opened the door allowing a rush of cold air in. I shivered and sat on the couch.
"I'm not completely stupid Hayden, okay? I remember you telling me Talia moved into her own place so I kinda figured..." Colson smiled slyly.
"Look, I don't really care. I'm late for an important meeting. I'll be back around 3," She rushed out of the house and quickly got in her car, starting it up and driving out of the driveway.
"Why are you here Colson?" I rubbed my legs and looked up at Colson who was walking towards me.
"Well you haven't been answering any of my texts, phone calls or even indirected tweets. And you are carrying my baby, I think I have the right to know how you're doing," He lightly placed his hand on my stomach.
"I'm fine," I fixed my ponytail and nodded.
"Fine? You're just fine? I haven't seen or talked to you in almost 4 weeks and that's all I get?" I stood up and walked into the kitchen, pulling a small bowl of grapes from the fridge and popping one into my mouth.
"I needed time for myself Colson because in case you haven't seen the news, Austin and I are kind of on a break right now," He nodded and sat down on one of the counter chairs.
"I saw. And then I tried calling you but you didn't answer," I could sense a smirk on his face before I looked up from the white bowl.
"I get it Colson. It was wrong of me to disappear for 4 weeks considering our situation. But you have to consider me. I'm all over the news with Austin and you and on top of that I'm pregnant with my ex's baby and I get sick every few hours," Colson sat up quickly.
"Every few hours? At least it's not every half hour like it was," I nodded and put the empty bowl into the sink. I sat down in the chair next to Colson.
"Why are you really here? What new song are you recording or when is the next time Cas is coming out here?" I tried to force a smile but I couldn't.
I read Colson's text messages. Each and every one of them, but they all talked about a new song or flying back home to Cleveland. Occasionally, there was a text asking how I was but the majority wasn't and that was the exact opposite of what he claimed he was doing.
"I came to check on you. Really," He rose his hand to touch my cheek but I moved away.
"Don't think I'm completely stupid, Colson. I haven't been absolutely shut out from social media. I know about you and Shaye. I saw the pictures from Club Blue," I sighed and looked down.
"Look, Hayden, it was one night. I'm sorry," He reached for my hand but I snatched it away.
"No you're not. You wouldn't have done it in the first place if you-" I stopped, rubbing my face and taking a deep breath.
