“What are you doing over there, Fang?” Sylva asked as she looked ahead to Fergal. Fergal was cupping his hands in front of his chest, away from Sylva’s sight. “It’s Fergal when I’m human, remember?” Fergal said calmly as he looked back at Sylva. “I figured out how to do this,” he said as he turned around to show Seth, Jeffry, Sylva, and Olin his hands. His hands seemed to hold a small, weak tornado. “You’re getting better at your elemental control,” Seth said. “If you think that is impressive,” Fergal replied as he put his right hand over his left, stopping the tornado, “check this out.” Fergal bent over and bent his knees, as if his body were a spring. He jumped into the air using a gust of wind that shot him over the tree tops. After a mid air back flip, he landed perfectly on his feet with little sight of bad footing. Everyone clapped as Fergal posed with his arms out wide and his head tilted back. “Not only are you getting better at air control,” Jeffry commented, “but you’re getting quite used to your two legs.”

“Have you been practicing any, Onyx? Oops, I mean Olin!” Jeffry asked after everyone began walking forward again. “A little,” Olin replied, “but as Fergal can tell you, both Arch-Gaiagon knowledge and power come slowly. So far, I can only do this.” Olin held out his right hand and a rock on the side of the road flew up to it as if Olin’s hand and the rock were magnetized. “That’s still pretty impressive,” Jeffry said. “Speaking of Arch-Gaiagon knowledge,” Sylva interrupted, “since we got a ways to go, can you try to remember any more of your story, Fergal?” “The one about the creation of Gaiagon and Arch-Gaiagon?” Fergal asked. “That’s the one,” Sylva answered.

Fergal thought for a few seconds as everyone walked down the road, Flare still leading a couple feet ahead. “Back when humans were the only race of the three major races, the great he took pride in humans, seeing them as his masterpiece. However, the great he, being the only true all knowing being, knew that humans without choice could not truly love him back. The great he decided to design humans with the ability to make personal and moral decisions, which was good and bad at the same time. Since they could chose to love the great he, those who chose to love him loved him with a passion. On the other hand, those who decided not to love him wanted to become independent and self sustaining. The leader of the men who wanted to become independent was jealous of the great he and wanted his power, so he created magic. Magic is not potions and wands, but rather the opposite of good put into a form that tries to manipulate the world around the caster. Magic is a spiritual force that allows human beings to become like the great he, but at a terrible cost. You may have heard the phrase ‘With power comes responsibility’, but there is also a saying that says ‘With pride comes corruption’.”

“The great he noticed that some humans were trying to master magic, so he created the five guardians: Volcos, Sandron, Snownic, Forvon, and Mounus. These five guardians were the five original Arch-Gaiagon, but since Gaiagon didn’t exist yet, they were just known to those who still followed the great he as the Gaia-guardians. The Gaia-guardians were protectors of truth, justice, and all that was good. Eventually, those who were jealous of the great he, later known as the Chaods, challenged the great he. Since the great he transcended physical form, the Chaods challenged the Gaia-guardians instead, since they were the physical representation of the great he’s good nature and power.”

“The Chaods lost in a landslide with none of the Gaia-guardians injured or scratched. Only one man with true knowledge of the secrets of magic escaped the battle alive. He was the leader of the Chaods, a man by the name of Douglas the Dark. Douglas decided that the only way to become more powerful was to take the powers of the Gaia-guardians. The great he knew of this, so right before Douglas had a chance to steal their powers, the great he removed their powers, creating the Gaiagon. The Gaiagon were as weak as a normal animal, even though there are many dangerous animals. Douglas was so angry that he created a ritual that he thought would make him a god. The ritual worked, but he became less than a god. Douglas became what mankind knows as the prince of darkness. Douglas took on a semi-spiritual form and changed his name to a name so foul that mankind uses another name to prevent summoning him. He was given the name Satoc.”
