"Late again." Charlie scolded when Harry got to work.
"Blame your brother." Harry smiled walking across the kitchen, his curls bouncing with him.
"Yeah he told me he was showing you the autographed record." Charlie said, turning back to what he was cooking.
"Did you guys have fun this weekend?" He asked.
Harry paused, staring at his reflection after putting his apron on.
"Um, yeah." He answered.
"You hesitated." Charlie said.
"We all got really drunk, that's all." Harry admitted.
"Nobody got hurt or anything though." Harry lied.
He was the one who got hurt.
"Good. If Evan didn't thank you, he meant to say thank you. I know he really wanted to go." Charlie said.
"Yeah, no problem." Harry said, putting his hairnet on now.
"Did you have fun, though?" Charlie asked.
Harry turned and looked at him. "You're concerned if I had fun or not?"
"Well yeah." Charlie smiled.
Harry blinked, trying to find the right words to reply.
"I ask because I'm sensing you didn't." Charlie added, not wanting to seem creepy.
"Yeah..." Harry trailed off, not realizing he wanted to talk about it until now.
But he couldn't tell Charlie.
He didn't know this guy well enough.
"Boyfriend troubles?" Charlie asked the risky question, hoping his assumption wasn't wrong.
Harry just looked at him.
"My brother is gay so I'd like to think I've developed a little bit of a gaydar." Charlie said.
"You have." Harry said quietly.
"Talk to me." Charlie said casually.
"I don't...I have work to do so I can't." Harry said, avoiding his eyes and walking off.
"Harry I'm not going to treat you any different. I promise I'm fine with it, it's no big deal. It's not even a deal." Charlie assured him.
"It's not that." Harry said quietly, coming back because he went in the wrong direction.
He stopped with a sigh, looking at the floor.
"He wasn't my boyfriend. We were never official but he....kissed someone else." Harry admitted.
"Oh." Charlie said, the playfulness leaving his expression.
"I told myself I wasn't going to dwell on this. But I'm already starting to miss what I thought we had. Who I thought he was." Harry said.
"I don't know how to get over it fast."
"Yeah I'm not sure that's possible. It's kind of a rule that you have to be miserable for a bit but then something or someone will come along and things will feel right again." Charlie said.
"Yeah well why can't they come today?" Harry whined.
Charlie smiled a little. "That'd be too perfect. If someone comes in today and you connect with them like that then...I'd say there's no doubt they're your soulmate."
