On Sunday when Harry got to work, he was surprised to find only two customers in the whole diner.
Jackie was at the register reading a magazine, and when Harry came into the kitchen Charlie was playing on his phone.
"Oh hey, about time you showed up." Charlie said.
Harry frowned, looking at the clock. "I'm five minutes early."
"I was just kidding. We're obviously not busy. Some Sundays are the best." Charlie smiled.
"Oh, cool." Harry said awkwardly, going to clock in.
He noticed a backpack sitting in the back room with what looked like a toy sword sticking out of it.
After clocking in, Harry walked over to investigate, pulling the sword out.
"Hey, I wanted to....what're you doing?" Charlie asked, suddenly in the room.
Harry flinched, turning and looking at him.
"There's a kids bag back here with a sword in it. Do you have kids or something?" Harry asked, messing with the sword.
"No." Charlie said quietly, his cheeks turning an interesting shade of red.
Harry raised his eyebrows. "This is yours?"
"Yes. I stopped by the comic book store on my way in because I knew I'd be too tired after work. Regardless of our lack of customers, just being here drains me." He said.
Harry couldn't help but grin.
"What?" Charlie asked, staring.
"I just...didn't think you'd be into this stuff." Harry admitted.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know you just...seem like a very serious person. All...work and responsibilities." Harry went on.
Charlie slowly smiled. "No way. I really give off that impression?"
"Yeah." Harry chuckled.
"I'm literally the exact opposite of that." Charlie said.
"Now um, can I have my sword back? It's valuable." He said, reaching for it.
Harry handed it over, still smiling in amusement.
"What other kind of stuff are you into?" Harry couldn't help but ask.
"Well...art, poetry, dance-"
"Dance?" Harry echoed, eyebrows raised again.
"Quick reminder that my arms are bigger around than your head. Something wrong with me liking dance?" Charlie asked playfully, approaching him with his arms folded.
"No, no I didn't mean it like that. I love all of those things too." Harry quickly told him.
"Especially dance. Well...dancing." Harry smiled.
"Really. You like to dance?"
Harry nodded.
"Well you surprised me today too. To me you seem too shy to dance." Charlie said.
