trigger warning: suicide

—-

Pete was laying bed with Mikey, surprised that it was already the fourth day of 2018.
He turned the TV on to see the Channel 7 News on.

The headline on the news made him sick to his stomach.

17 YEAR OLD KASEY WILLIS FROM SOUTHGATE COMMITTED SUICIDE, LEAVING NOTE EXPLAINING THINGS LEADING TO HER DEATH

'Lainey,' Pete thought.

He had to go kind of far back in his mind, but once he did, it was all crystal clear.

Belleville, New Jersey

Pete was walking onto the school bus with Gerard, Frank, and Mikey as they all dreaded their first days back at Belleville Kennedy High School.

"I hope that Paisley girl doesn't go here this year," wished Gerard.

"I wish she wasn't, but she is. She said to us already she was going here because Valerie Farmington was, too," explained Mikey.

"She is such a pain in the ass," Frank commented.

"Agreed. I thought she would finally leave after freshman and sophomore year without Owen but, no."

"Me too, Pete. Is Lainey still going here?" asked Gerard.

"Yeah. She's driving with Giovanna, though."

Lainey was Pete's older sister. She was 17, so she was one year older than him and Mikey but the same age as Frank and Gerard.
He was so jealous of her. She had so many friends, a great boyfriend, and had great grades.
And she was blonde, had blue eyes, freckles, was beautiful, and was really tall.
She was the living stereotype of a high school straight boy's dream girl and the girl who could turn a straight girl lesbian, or at least bisexual.
He was surprised that Giovanna Garetti, her best friend, wasn't dating her by now.

"Hey, Pete?"

"Yeah, Mikes?"

"I'm gay."

"Oh."

Pete paused for a moment and smiled.

"Me too."

Mikey's face lit up as Frank and Gerard giggled from the bus seat behind them.

"I hate this bus."

"Yeah," responded Mikey.

"How is it with Frank and Gerard after they started dating?"

"Loud."

"Does your mom hear them?"

"She's always working, so no. And my dad has been in the hospital because my grandpa is really sick."

"Oh. I hope he gets better."

"Yeah. My mom still doesn't know about Frank and Gerard. Well, she knows they're a thing but, not the....other things."

Pete laughed a little as he looked behind him at Frank and Gerard, him telling they had been listening the whole time.

"Loud, huh?" Frank asked, pretending to be offended. "It's gonna be loud once you and Pete become a thing. You won't be able to resist. Pete, are you a bottom?"
