"Guys, I can't believe you ditched us!" Katie exclaimed. I winced. I should had known Amy's plan was a bad one, but she had insisted.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't take it," Amy defended herself. "Besides, I left you a note!" I thought back to the message we had left on the whiteboard for them. Amy said the science project needed to be more fun, so we could do it in a cafe after school instead.

"Yeah, but the note was on the whiteboard was in permanent marker," Sophie sighed as she sat down. "Ms West went ballistic."

Uh oh.

"Deny everything," Amy advised.

"You signed your names," Katie pointed out.

"We are screwed then."

"Anyway, why are we meeting here?" Sophie asked impatiently.

"'Cause it was boring!" Amy complained. "And it would be more fun in a cafe!"

"How does a café make it more fun?" Sophie said sceptically.

"'Cause cafés are fun!" Amy said enthusiastically.

"Yeah right," I scoffed. "You just wanted an excuse to stuff your face with cake."

Katie stifled a laugh. "So, what's the plan then?"

Sophie put on a business-like face. "We should finish drawing up plans of the device."

"What device?" Amy said.

"Well, if you'd been there at lunch, you would know that we've started to draw up plans for a teleportation device," Sophie said.

Amy was surprised. "Wait, what? Teleporting? That's so cool!"

I smiled disinterestedly. "Yeah."

"So when can we start?" Amy asked.

Well this was a change, someone managing to get Amy interested in science.

Although she was about to get a lot less interested in the teleporting device when she saw who had just walked through the cafe door.

"Katie, I thought we were going to do the psychology homework at my house after school today," Tom whined, standing by our table.

Amy started hyperventilating like she'd just run a marathon until Katie gave her a death glare.

"Sorry guys, I've got to go," Katie apologised. "Can I get your numbers tomorrow so we can meet up at the weekened to do it?"

Sophie and I nodded while Amy shot her a jealous glance.

"Guys, I've got to go too - I need to pick up my little brother. I'll see you tomorrow then," Sophie said.

Then it was just Amy and I.

"Do you think it would be creepy if I followed Tom?" Amy said.

I laughed the whole way home.
