Chapter Twenty-Five

I glanced over to my dresser where my phone buzzed loudly, notifying me of a text message. Pausing the movie I had been watching on Netflix, I placed my laptop to the side and walked over to see who texted me.

Faith: 11:36 am.

Did you see Kacey's comment on your post?

Frowning, I texted her back.

No, I blocked her, remember?

She immediately sent me a screenshot of my post, which was a selfie I had taken earlier, wearing a sweatshirt and pajama pants and sporting a make-up free face. Beneath my caption, Kacey had commented 'ugly.'

I rolled my eyes. I was officially fed up with Kacey's pointless name-calling. Alright, maybe it wasn't pointless, because her words did hurt to some extent. But, didn't she realize that she wasn't going to get a reaction from me anymore?

I texted Faith back. Honestly, I don't even care anymore.

I locked my phone and brought it with me as I walked back to my bed. I sat down and leaned my back on the headboard, placing my laptop on my lap and playing the movie. As much as I wanted to continue watching, however, my attention kept wondering off to other things. Finally, I gave up trying to focus on the movie and shut the laptop. I sat there, thinking about what I could do to make this rainy, cloudy Saturday interesting, and as I thought, my phone rang once more. I reached over, picking the phone up and quickly glanced down at the caller ID.

Mindy.

Smiling, I put the phone up to my ear. "Hey, Mindy."

"Hi, Lauren!" She greeted. "I was just wondering if you could come and babysit Katie for a few hours. Logan's not home and I gotta get to work."

"Of course," I smiled. "I'll be over in a bit."

After hanging up, I made my way into the closet, not even having to think about what I was going to wear. Since I was already wearing a sweatshirt, I simply picked out a comfy pair of sweats and my old, beat up converse.

I realized I had a silly smile plastered onto my lips while I got dressed. I knew babysitting Katie was going to be fun, mostly because I loved her like she was my own little sister, but the fact that she was the little sister of the guy I had a major crush on, made the whole situation much more exciting.

Slipping my phone in the back of my pocket, I walked out of my room and made my way down the stairs, grabbing my keys from the dinner table and starting my way to Logan's house.

I still didn't have a car to drive - courtesy of the accident - and it was still raining outside. I pulled the hood on my sweatshirt over my head and stuffed my hands into my pockets. Eight minutes later, I was walking up the driveway to the Williams' house and knocking on the door. Mindy opened the door and grinned while Katie squealed and ran to me. Laughing, I picked her up and carried her, resting her on my hip.

"Hi, Lauren," Mindy greeted. "I gotta get going; I'll be back around four-thirty. If she gets hungry just make her macaroni and cheese and she'll love you forever."

She reached over and pecked her daughter on the cheek before stepping forward to give me a hug. "Thank you for coming, honey."

"Of course," I smiled.

She grinned before walking off to her car. "Be good, Katie!" She waved and blew her a kiss before hopping into her car and driving off.

I walked inside their house, closing the door behind me. I put Katie down and bent down to her height, placing my hands on my knees. "So," I started, smiling mischievously. "What do you want to do?"
