Chapter 10 |Blossom|

Blossom Akatsusumi

I don't know if the owl was my mother or Hades but all I knew I needed to follow it. Of course I love Brick worrying about me but this is important. I opened the door and the room smelled like mold and raspberry for some reason. I looked out and the shop is designed like french coffee shop. I grabbed my knife, from my boot, and opened the kitchen door.

"Blossom," Brick said as he grabbed my arm. "Please let me go first. I can't lose you. Not again."

"Brick. This is a quest and we need to finish this." I said.

"Athena has a lot of enemies! They're after her kids, come on. Blossom think." He snapped.

A noise shuffled from the room. I slapped my hand over his mouth and nudged the door opened. Some shadow moved over the table, and a cry. I flinched and tried to move closer but Brick grabbed my wrist. I rolled my eyes but then I heard a whimper. I pulled my wrist out of his grasp and ran in the room.

"Hello? Are you okay? It's okay, we're here to help." I whispered.

I felt something ping against my ankle. I looked down and saw a pebble. I leaned down and the crying person crashed into me. I gasped and fell on my back, the shadow tiny hands started to punch my arms.

"Go away you monster! I won't fall for it again!" The voice yelled.

"Wait, we're not monsters." I said.

The punching stop. I sat up but the weight didn't leave my legs. Brick flickered on his lighter and a pair of brown eyes stared at me. The little shadow person was a baby boy. His messy brown hair had twigs and leaves, his forehead had a large gash and his muddy clothes stuck against his body.

"You seen a cyclops?" I asked him.

"The monster with one eye?" He asked.

I nodded.

"You guys are like me!" He yelled, brightening up.

"What do you mean, like us?" Brick asked.

"He's a half-blood Brick. Can't you tell?" I said.

"No I can't. All I can tell is this little kid attacked you. After you almost died!" Brick yelled.

"My name is Rider! I can see monsters too. What is a half-blood?" Rider asked.

"It means one of your parents if Greek gods. Just like me, my mother is Athena." I said. "And Brick is son of Zeus."

"Go ahead and tell the whole world." Brick muttered.

"How about you? Do you have any idea who is your parent?" I asked him.

Rider looked away but shook his head. He stood up but somehow he still looked adorable. The first thing that catch my eye was his face. Sure he still has baby chub but he's unearthly beautiful. I think I figured out who's his godly parent. Aphrodite.

I looked over at Brick, who helped me up, and looked at Rider. Rider looked around but froze when he saw Ace. Rider his behind me and grabbed my shirt, I frowned. Ace gave Rider a small smile but Rider pressed his face against my back. I looked around and the owl stared at me. The owl flapped her wings but something glinted around her neck. I moved forward but Rider grabbed my hand.

I moved forward with Rider, and the owl refused to look away. I reached my hand out, the owl pecked my hand affectionately. I saw a small paper in the necklace, I took off the necklace and saw money was inside. I smile and unfolded the paper, and only saw my mother's name written across.

"Guys, I think Athena sent us money to clean up." I said.

Rider squeezed my hand, "I know a place."

"You do?" I asked.

He nodded and tugged me out. I smiled and allowed Rider to lead me. Brick called out my name but Rider brought us to a motel. I looked at it then towards Brick. Brick glanced up at the sky, I stared at him. I can't believe he's still holding my bookbag. Ace stepped forward and held out his hand.

"I'll get us a room." Rider said.

We nodded and I looked at Brick, "Do you have any clothes for him?"

"Sorry, I didn't bring any clothes for little kids." Brick mumbled.

Ace came running back with a room key. We walked in the room, I stopped seeing a bag on the bed. The place smelled like roses with chocolate. Rider movdd forward, in a trance, to the clothes. Brick grabbed my arm. I look at him and see fear written across his face.

"Aphrodite." Brick said.

"How do you know?" I asked.

But I saw a dove floating above Rider's hair. I smiled and Rider giggled. He acted like he seen something before. Hr held up a piece of paper and waved it around.

"She sent another." Rider said.

"Aphrodite send you a note before?" Brick asked.

Rider nodded, "I don't know her name but she said people will save me one day. Looks like I found them."

"Hey Rider. Why don't you head in the shower, while we'll talk." I said.

Rider walked to the bathroom with the clothes. I walked over to the bed and grabbed the note. Brick leaned behind me and we read over the note, five times. Then Brick grabbed the note. My face turn a bright red, since he basically had his arms around me and refused to take them off.

I hear every single love song playing right now.

"She wants us to send him to camp." Brick said.

"Doesn't she realize we're on a quest?" I asked.

"Dunno." Brick mumbled.

He pulled away and looked at me. I turned around and we both stared into each other eyes. I felt my face turning slight red but Brick just looked serious. He reached out and grabbed my hand, lacing our fingers together.
"Blossom, I'm sorry for being a jerk back there." Brick said.

"It's fine. I mean it's sweet but you aren't scared that I'm going to get taken away again. Are you?"

"I'm terrified, Blossom. Completely terrified. Losing you again would be the end of me."

"You won't lose me. I promise."

Brick smiled, "Good."

"Yo guys! I found some really great burgers want so-." Ace stopped and looked at us. "You guys was having a moment. Weren't you?"
