Sofie's POV:
"So,what's the plan?" Gideon inquired looking at me with that deep grey eyes. This is going to be harder than I thought.I look at the rows of books behind him to distract me from his captivating eyes. The soft plush mahagony chair now become oddly uncomfortable.
I'm really glad that we went to Gideon's parents for dinner,if not,he may not agree to spending time with Jonah.I tried very hard to keep Mrs. MacArthur's insult out of my head.Instead,I try focussed on the good outcome of that dinner.Mr MacArthur was surprisingly a good man,and easy to talk to.On the other hand,Mrs MacArthur was a difficult and somewhat cold. And I also noticed the tension in the room.Is it just my presence or always been that way?The MacArthur s were stiff with each other, not a warm family reunion by any means.
"Well?"He inquired again,impatient.Mentally encouraging myself I reply "You work seven days a week,even on Sundays,right?"He nod,confused.
"How about you spare Sunday for Jonah, stay at home. You can do some work from this room, while he nap"I said gesturing at the spacious study, endowed with loads of books. The room looks like it is built solely for Gideon, cold, practical, with black curtains, deep mahogany desk and chairs, and bookshelves full of thick books.
He finally replied after what seems like forever "Okay,I guess,so what will we do on Sundays?"
"Both of you can get to know each other, have some daddy-son time.Don't worry, there's loads to do."I keep my mouth shut before I get too excited by the plans I made in my head.
After discussing more plans and reporting Jonah's daily life,he finally declare"Okay,if that's all,Goodnight" Gideon snap concentrating on his laptop completely dismissing me.
"Actually,we can start tonight."I burst out without thinking. He raises his fine dark eyebrows at my statement silently questioning me.
"Its nearly bedtime. You can help me put him to bed."He look taken aback, and nervous."Now?".
"No time like the present.Right?"I get up and walk towards the door hoping and praying that he'll follow me.After all,I have to use every possible plan I know to mend the rift between father and son.I stop and look back to see Gideon rooted in his seat, frozen, looking at the door.
"Gideon,are you coming?".
He cleared his throat getting up from his seat "Uhh,are you sure?"I raises my eyebrows at that"I mean,
we can always start this Sunday."Is he afraid?.That must be it."Don't worry.I'll lead, just trust me,okay?" I look straight in his grey eyes pleading him and praying he'll trust me enough to do this.
After a deep sigh,he finally answers "Okay"
When we reach Jonah's room,we see Jonah silently playing with Lily, one of the maids. He's too quiet for my liking,"Hey,sweetie did you have fun with Lily?"I asked kissing his his head kneeling beside him.
He look at me and then his father standing in the door and just nodded."Really, then what did you do?"
"We built houses" He said pointing at the blocks not particularly excited."That's amazing,we can all live here, you, your daddy and me"
This elicited a small giggle "No,Fie Fie"
I feigned disbelieve "Why not?it's so nice"
This elicited another giggle"Coz,we are too big."
"Are'nt you a little genius?Alright,Einstein lets get you ready for bed."
With a deep sigh,he get up and walk towards the bathroom, his earlier light mood instantly gone.I signal Gideon to follow me.
